About Me

Well my name's Derek, but to all my friends and fellow Brothers In Arms I'm known as Willy. I am one the most outgoing, energetic, and highly motivated individuals you could ever meet. I was raised to give everything I have in my day to day activities, and to never quit. I am very dedicated to my job, and to the men I serve with, because when the bullets start to fly, and everything has gone to hell, they are the ones you need the most (Trust Me). I love to have a good time, I mean who the hell doesn't. I am originally from Indiana, but am currently stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska serving this great country in the ARMY (Currently Deployed in Iraq). I love my job! It has taken me to many places and has allowed me to meet a lot of interesting people. You name it, I've done it. I have a great sense of humor, and am not afraid to say what is on my mind. I like to drink beer, especially free beer, which of course is my favorite flavor. And every now and then I will smoke the occasional victory cigar, usually after I have jumped out of an airplane. I work hard, and play even harder. I enjoy a wide variety of athletics. I work out and exercise a lot because I believe in taking care of one's body. I like to think of myself as the go-to guy because I would do just about anything for anyone. I also enjoy a good dare every now and then. I'm a country boy at heart, and I absolutely love the outdoors. Alaska definately fulfills a lot of that for me.

My Interests

I love outdoor activities. Alaska is great for this. You will often find me hiking or bicycling. I've conquered mountains and glaciers. Any sort of extreme excercise or sport fires me up pretty much. Skydiving, skiing, reading (I usually have my face in a book as well), video games, movies (I have the largest DVD collection in the world), traveling, fishing, swimming with the sharks (a must do for those who haven't), sports. Hell I could go on and on. I am the kind of guy who gets interested in a lot of stuff. Plus I am always on the prowl for something new out there. Anything for an adrenaline rush!
Myspace Layouts

I'd like to meet:

I'm a very social and outgoing individual, and I am always up for meeting new people.

Music:

I love country music! It makes that cowboy in me come out and party. I am also a huge classic rock kind of guy. I don't even know where to start with that. If it is classic rock, well then I love it. I don't even want to begin listing bands or artists in fear of forgetting a favorite.

Movies:

When it comes to movies, it doesn't matter what genre. I love a variety of films. If you name it I probably have it on DVD. I love war movies! I guess it is the Soldier in me. When Trumpets Fade, To Hell and Back, Black Hawk Down, Apocalypse Now, Enemy at the Gates, The Rambo Trilogy, The Patriot, Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, U-571, Platoon, Hamburger Hill, The Great Escape, and HBO's Band of Brothers (Kicks ASS), and TOP GUN baby, just to name a few. Movies help me relax, and I am always game for about anything. If I had to name a favorite it would probably be The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly with Mr. Clint Eastwood himself. Damn I do love that movie.

Television:

South Park, The Simpsons, Futurama, Rescue Me, Cheers, Night Court, Married with Children, The Golden Girls, COPS, Family Guy, most anything on the History Channel (especially Mail Call), Discovery Channel, and the Miltary Channel. The Unit I can get into sometimes, as well as CMT.

Books:

I'll read about anything, especially if it has to do with miltary history or current events. Anything by the late Stephen Ambrose, as well as books by Tom Clancy. I enjoy a good biography every now and then. Hell if it sounds good or was recommended to me, I'll take a shot at it. Reading is knowledge, and knowledge is power!

Heroes:

The Big Guy upstairs and His Son our Savior. Every hard working AMERICAN! The Men and Women with whom I share the Uniform with, my Comrades and close Brothers in Arms that I work and train with each and every day. Those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and their families, and for those who live their lives not for themselves, but for the individuals to their left and right everyday. The real heroes are those who can lead from the front and set an example for others to follow! I have many of them.
