The Perfect Rat

ENDANGERED LANGUAGES

About Me

The Perfect Rat originates from the power trio-based, improvised musical explorations of Gary Arce, Greg Ginn and Bill Stinson that began in 2000. The resulting out-freakage deftly mixed grooves and structured ideas with the energy and spirit of Improvisation. The Perfect Rat concept was revisited again in 2005 when Gary Arce organized a recording session based on the power trio jams of what officially became "The Perfect Rat". Referencing a more angular, raw and experimental side of his guitar playing compared to the normally ambient style associated with Gary's Yawning Man work, The Perfect Rat is a seething, energetic groove that flows like molten lava. Joining in the mix is guitarist Mario Lalli and the combination of Arce and Lalli is a language unto its own.
The rhythm section features Legendary guitarist Greg Ginn laying down some heavier-than-gravity, grooved-out bass lines merging with the hard, modulating drumming of Bill Stinson and alto saxophonist Tony Atherton navigates the resulting terrain with energy and soul. Jack Brewer finds the words that will sear an impression into your mind.
The Perfect Rat crunches jazz, punk and hyper-space jamming into a churning, grinding musical exploration.
