Profile GeneratorWelcome to the MySpace for Sheffield Hallam University Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender society. We are a student run society, here for anyone with an open mind, and we need more members, so come along! Members of the society have the opportunity to get involved in LGBT issues, receive support and advice from our welfare officer (as well as SHU's equal opportunities Exec) and, of course many, opportunities to have fun and socialise within our society and with The University of Sheffield's LGB also.
We meet every week, usually on a Tuesday @ 7.30 in The HUBS (unless otherwise stated). We arranged a variety of activities each year. For example, last year we went on trips to Manchester's Canal Street, held Retro style Games nights, Laser Quest, Fancy Dress Outings, Gigs, Speed Dating, Scavenger Hunts, Trips to Climax and more!
The main aim of SHU LGBT is to offer support and to help students in Sheffield get to know the scene better. As well as regular liaisons with South Yorkshire police, we are currently involved in some community projects. We have also recently had a stand at Sheffield's LGBT history month held at the Town Hall.
We hope to run future trips to Manchester and other cities on nights out, and Alton Towers, among other events. Check out the blogs for updates as to what's going on.
We can often be found in the Common Room after our meetings [along with Sheffield LGB] and then we often move on to Fuel, Flares, Dempsy's or on another of our arranged activities!
Also, we have a new website up and running. It's a work in progress at the moment, but go and take a look at:

So that's it basically! Feel free to get in touch with any questions you might have, via here or the university email system: [email protected]
