Miz Portiontè Floes has conquered Seattle’s local entertainment industry as a much sought after poet, soulful expressionist, vocalist, and actress. Recently, Portiontè AKA Miz Floes’ community activities led to two new roles…Treasurer and Literary Coordinator of FESTIVAL SUNDIATA.
As a former, (at-risk-youth), Portiontè is no stranger to urban life and her experiences shine through her refreshing, informative, intellectual, comedic, romantic, heartfelt, poetry.
There's at least one poem in the collection that reminds a reader of an occasion, a friend, or a situation from their past or present. Understanding her gift of verse, Portiontè became a published author!
Her exhilarating book of poetry titled, Im Still Growing Vol.1, hit the bookshelves and cyber stores, on May 2nd 2005. This floetic, insightful, masterpiece can also be found inside any branch of the
King County Library System.
Portiontè is of the sincere opinion that, the age and time when the Diaspora, (the dispersion or spreading of something that was originally localized, as a people or language or culture), in America can hardly be understood by the use of plain speech, had arrived, decided to concentrate her efforts to utilizing other
gifts / talents that were bestowed upon her. She developed an event that would not only showcase her talents, but explore the talents of others. Portiontè took an honest and positive approach and quite frankly, hit a homerun! Miz Floes teamed up with one of Seattle’s Soul bands… RCURTIS & SOUL STAY SHUN.
The fusion of “Soulful..poetic verse impacted by soulful vocals), and Soul Stay Shun’s high energy grooves, was like magic! Portiontè dubbed the show RHYTHMIC RHMYE http://www.rhythmicrhyme.com.
Every Thursday night at nine was Rhythmic Rhyme time. Seattle’s Joanna’s Jazz Club was the place to be!
Miz Floes, Rcurtis & Soul Stay Shun, would entertain their audience with live music, performance poetry, spoken word, soulful expression, and open mic! There were even quarterly Fashion Fusions, commentated in the Spoken Word, by none other than… MIZ FLOES!
Miz Floes is now hosting the same type of event for adults; titled... THE SMOKIN SPOKEN WURD! This event involves "Mature Contemplation". The subject matters and or language are not appropriate for those under the age of 18. The Smokin Spoken Wurd is a traveling poetry show, (Miz Floes' Traveling Poetry Theater), which means locations will vary.
Keeping in mind that she had a much larger scale in view… Miz Floes began displaying her vocal ability with the now, Soul / Jazz fusion band…MIZ FLOES & THE CARMEL LATTE!
THIS WAS A GREAT IDEA!
The band, now known as Seattle's only Soulful Expression band, is currently performing in Seattle and surrounding areas! You can hear Miz flowing at any of the following locations…
