I'm the unofficial neighborhood clubhouse mom, which means that I have a very sociable teenager with lots of terrific friends who hang out here with my son day in and day out, watching television, playing video, computer, or board games, helping each other with homework, playing football on the front yard, listening to music, or just hanging out with each other.I was disabled in an automobile accident in May, 2003, and can no longer work, but my background includes: one year as a school teacher, a few years as Superintendent of a Juvenile Detention Center, one year running a Battered Women's Shelter, a few years as Executive Director of a Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, six months as a Therapist with the Keeping Kids in Safe Surroundings program, eight years Managing Hospital Volunteer programs, and four years Managing a Hospital Education and Training program. I'd like to think that I have an appropriate background to maintain a safe place for kids to hang out with each other when they aren't at school or at home.
