Ira Heinichen (pronounced hi-nuh-kin) began jockeying at the age of 13 as a school dance MC in the Redwood forests of Northern California. Ambition turned this upstart teenager professional when he and three others formed Bassline Sound Mobile Disc Jockeys in 1998 at the age of 16. From there Ira was introduced to the art of DJing and soon was playing house music.
In 2003 he released "Footsteps" that gained the attention of Los Angeles DJ and writer for [former] Lotus magazine Daniel "Scrappy Dan" Webb who reviewed the album as "captivating and flawlessly executed." Gaining a reputation, Heinichen relocated to Los Angeles that summer. At the same time Heinichen dove into writing and that winter saw his first production, a remix of Andain's "Beautiful Things" for Tiesto's Black Hole Records. 2004 saw residencies at Ziing's in Orange County and The Village in Los Angeles, twice the featured guest dj for UK dj Matt Samuels' "Innovate" on Eccentricbeats.com, and production of the widely popular "Tela" and remix of J. Kabelis' "Pressure".
2005 and 2006 have seen the launch of the enormously successful launch of Ira's radio show "Elemental Underground" which is now in its second year on Frisky Radio (www.friskyradio.com) and prestigous residencies at the Plush Lounge and upcoming at Spundae Los Angeles in Hollywood. Still upcoming are several new production releases and a new location for Heinichen's electo/progressive/house night "Spin Cycle."
