Red Rum

Red Rum is one of the most uncommon and untypical bands on the modern Russian rock-stage. The group, formed in 2003 in Saint-Petersburg, makes an inventive kind of music that would be easiest categorized as experimental rock, but this vague description is hardly adequate for such a unique sounding formation. The songs have bits of classic American rock-school, psychedelic, the more adventurous side of indie, alternative, electronics, art-rock and other quirky/surreal elements that seem to come from no outside influence.
The early Red Rum demos have hit German independent radio stations, received excellent reviews from both European and Russian indie labels, e-zines and critics (including publications in the popular Russian national magazine «Fuzz»).
Energy, expressiveness and classy performance have become a visiting card of the Red Rum live appearances. Uncontrollable drive and unpredicted improvisations very often lead to absolutely new arrangements and these arrangements are totally different from the studio interpretations. Red Rum hardly uses synthesizers, samplers and other high tech gear on live performances. The original video projections have become a pleasant innovation for a band’s audience: CGI sequences, multimedia installations, perfectly produced mini films help to plunge deeper into Red Rum’s reality. In the end of December 2008 debut independent video “Paranormal” was released. This clip as all other video-, audio- and promo-materials can be discovered on Internet resources dedicated to the band.
They entered into 2009 with the new creation «Recognito» (LP), that doesn’t seem to have any analogues in the world. Musical professionalism, unique sound, gorgeous tunes and audacious experiments combine all together in this release.
Red Rum members say that new musical breakthroughs and live performances are the priority for the band now.
