I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm passionate lover of Flint, a community activist, environmentalist, artist and now gardening columnist. So alas here I am trying to solve the problems of this post-industrial city where we have contaminated soils, a neglected river system, vacant lands and no food security. Just think of the potential! :) At least there is enough to keep me busy for a while. Did I mention I love my job?I love dispelling the myths about this city. There are so many fabulously talented people here. The media does a diservice to this community by constantly highlighting the violence yet ignoring the corruption in the system. It's easy to turn a blind eye... what's difficult is owning up to your role in creating the problem. So get out and do... or support those who are doing.I also make time to go up to my favorite river in the lower 48 the Au Sable and catch me some brook trout. I try not to be an Au Sable snob but there is something to be said for knowing a river's every curve.I love the chance to be out on the river which helps center me and keep me sane. I love the feel of the perfect cast slipped beneath an overhanging branch. There is nothing more exciting than an evening of multiple hatches or stalking that big brown with a mouse fly. I'm not a fair weather fisherman and have trouble finding those who can hang with a woman obsessed. So when I'm not fishing which is never enough, I'm playin' with my jewelry creations, knittin' and trying to not break my sewing machine. And although I have lost the attentions of my dog to the summer chimpmunk season she is my constant companion.Myspace Graphics

Focus on cool-weather plants while you wait for frost to pass
