About Me

D-ZIRE was formed in late 1995, by founding members Byron Bahan and Tomo Nishimura. Stell Steel and Toney Richards then joined to complete the original line-up. In March of 1998, Stell Steel was replaced by Billy Miller and this second line-up remained together until October of 2002'. Toney Richards is the only remaining original member left. He is currently regrouping with new members. He has already begun working on the new D-ZIRE CD.The CD was supposed to be released this year but the project was put on hold, due to Lead Vocalist- Richards, spending more time working with his new band WIKKID STARR.The D-ZIRE debut CD "The Awakening", garnered some critical acclaim throughout Europe. It was voted album of the year by Metal Easteen E-zine for the year 2003'. D-ZIRE was nominated by Rock City News in Hollywood, California for Best Metal Band two years in a row (2000 & 2001). They were the Featured Artist for Mad Dog Internet Radio out of Hawaii for Jan. 2003' and they also had one of their songs featured on the Martini Shot Films Skydiving Video (Rantooul 2002').They have been featured on the KLOS 95.5 (Los Angeles) Local Licks Show and have had their song "Do Or Die" played on many College Radio Stations throughout the U.S. Radioactive Magazine (KISS Fan Club Mag out of Brisbane, Australia)- interviewed Toney Richards in the summer of 2002. The interview was done by Donna Bartlett. It was titled: The Kiss of D-ZIRE. That particular issue did so well, that its now out of print. The list of people that helped out in the studio were: Hollywood Vocalist Billy Foxx (Dead Girl), back-up vocals on "She's No Angel" and "Strange". Texas native Mike Wilde, back-up vocals on "Hollywood Attitude" and "Games". Female Rocker and solo artist Kim Martin, back-up vocals on "Amanda Mae" and "Chance on Love". Horacio Colmenares (New Eden) helped out with the moody guitar on "Games" and also helped co/produce the CD along with Toney Richards. Actress and Short Story host Sally Shore (Suddenly Susan), did an excellent job of portraying a British Newscaster on an intro-commentary for the song "Change". Meta DiGiorgio did the seductive voice on the "Desire Intro" and Raphael DiGiorgio plays the eerie, hypnotic keyboards on "Desire". Beautiful Make-up Artist Lisa Monet (Ben Stein, Gloria Allred and Fox TV) posed for the front cover. We could have never succeeded without the hard work and dedication of our manager Jan James (Red Squirrel Entertainment). It was her inspirational words that would keep us focused and motivated. The intial engineer was Robert Trujillo at Tru One Studios. Then we went to David Longeavuy (Stryper, Michael Sweet) at Public Recording Studios, before ending up at Disarray Studios with Horacio Colmenares. At one point we checked out the Cellar in Palos Verdes when we were thinking about having Juan Croucier (Ratt)- produce the CD for us but it never happened and time was definitely a factor. The "Awakening" has sold over 10,000 copies worldwide with no major promotion behind it thus far. It is still available through Perris Records and CD Baby. There are future plans to remix the entire CD and re-release it- no word yet on when exactly that will be. There is also a video in the works with interviews, live performances and other rare footage- that will be released sometime in the near future. A new line of merchandising will also make it's debut.D-ZIRE has played the West Coast of the U.S. several times and they have opened up for many big name acts such as: L.A. Guns, Babylon A.D., Saxon, Lizzy Borden, Pretty Boy Floyd, Gilby Clarke (Guns & Roses), Rik Emmet (Triumph), Phil Lewis (L.A. Guns), etc. They have gained worldwide recognition in the U.S., Canada, South America, Australia, Israel, Europe, Indonesia and Japan. D-ZIRE has proven that their brand of Hard Rock/Glam Metal is contagious and well liked by the masses. It's a shame that we did not get a chance to see how far they could have gone with the second line-up but at least we can enjoy the memory of what they created even though some people frowned on the political overtone of the album. Maybe one day very soon we will get the opportunity to see a new line-up with new songs and a tour of the whole U.S. Special thanks to Markus & Andy Platner from the German band Kashmir. They came up with the Bass, Drums, Guitar and Keys for "Face The Day", "Good Nephilim" and "Get It, Got It, Good". Thanks as well to Sacred Rite guitarist- Jimmy Caterine for laying down some very melodic acoustic guitar tracks on "Face The Day". Jimmy really added some cool dynamics to the song. You combine their great efforts with the lyrics and vocals of Toney Richards and you have a beautiful piece of music that stands the test of time in "Face The Day". Revamp The Attack will be the name of the new CD, which will take the musical sound of D-ZIRE in a new direction. Keep coming back- we'll keep you posted on the progress.
