Deja VooDoo sites Parliament, Jimi Hendrix, Public Enemy, Prince, Carlos Santana, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and the Allman Brothers as influences in their creativity. The bands debut CD, Black Magic (2003), has been praised for its refreshing soundno borders or boundaries. Deja can often be heard backing up many local hip hop masters.
