"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy. Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents."
-Ludwig van Beethoven
Music is, perhaps, the highest revelation. Rhythm and intonation converge to create a feeling transcendent of its secular self to bewilder, perplex and ensnare. Be it the notes struck on the strings of a violin or a cacophony of artificial sounds, the drive of inspired harmony passes beyond its aural counterparts to strike at the very chords of humanity itself. This is not merely music.
This . . . this is art.
"From a very young age, all genres of music and all the technical aspects that go along with its creation fascinated me."
-DJ Jason G
So it is like so many of us now, so many before and yet to come that Jason G was compelled. His compilations have reached the ears of much of New York, where his endeavor through House music more or less began. Inside some of the city's most quintessential of clubs (The Tunnel, Limelight and the legendary Sound Factory), he encountered a few of the industry's most exemplary names: Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vasquez and Jonathan Peters among them. Within the walls of those Manhattan nightclubs, the incipient DJ was born.
"The vibe was like nothing I had experienced before. I was moved by the crowd and inspired by the sound. I have been spinning House music ever since."
-DJ Jason G
The raison d'etre of any DJ is the dance floor, and it is ultimately the crowd's response which separates the mediocre from the good . . . and the good from the exceptional. When the music's sonance flows throughout and its vibe permeates the people is undoubtedly when his or her success is defined. For what greater compliment can an artist receive than to know his work inspires?
"There is nothing more satisfying to me than to look out on the dance floor and see the crowd go crazy."
-DJ Jason G
Nearly a decade later, DJ Jason G regularly performs at local clubs such as Painter's, The Drink, Bianco, Brazil/Amber, Neptune's, Tavern, Turtle Bay, and Pacha NYC; he has even had the opportunity to grace some DJ booths in Europe. Jason G has mixed 27 compilations of his own, but not without regards for diversity. An eclectic taste allows him to employ several facets of House music, be it progressive or tribal or funky.
"To describe the exact type of House I play would be difficult. I have not stuck to one particular type . . . I think a true DJ should break new records and not focus on playing what everyone wants to hear. That has been my mission from Day One."
-DJ Jason G
With unending patience and sedulity, unconditional support from friends and an ever-increasing fan-base, DJ Jason G will invariably land himself before a room of 15,000 eager ears, all teeming with anticipation.
