About Me

This is sort of a combination band and personal profile. It's sort of about me and sort of about my music -- what's the difference?

These days I enjoy writing and performing music, salsa dancing, cycling, travelling, and whatever else gives me joy. I live in L.A., but I'm actually a pretty direct, straightforward guy.

I am 28 years old in case you are wondering. I have no idea why MySpace says 100-something!

Musically, I love blues, latin, jazz, blues-rock, funk, classical, acoustic, praise & worship, "world music," and some country. I'm up for jamming with anyone, and I am open to gigs if you need my skills, but I'll be honest -- I'm playing because I love music and because I want to be a better musician in the long-term. I'm not worried about "making it" or any of that other stuff.... I have a day job. I would love to hear feedback on the music and to communicate with other musicians!

Without being pompous, I'm a bit of an intellectual. I love reading, talking about current events, and whatever other conversation of whimsy that shows up -- economics, politics, philosophy, music, theology, architecture, art, history. I'm also a lover of Christ.

If it is important to you, faith is something that should be apparent in your life. Not that you can't talk about it; but, like working out, the people that talk about it the most seem to actually involve themselves with it the least.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: jrandrews.net
Band Members: Josh Andrews -- Guitar and Vocals, Natalie Jacob -- Vocals, Percussion, Danny Sandock -- Bass, Guitar, Vocals, Mars Ileto -- Percussion, Eric Hill -- Drums
Influences:

Musically -- Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Lawrence Juber, Miles Davis, the Gypsy Kings, Joe Satriani, and whatever else happens to come through my iTunes rotation.

Otherwise, I would love to meet C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Lawrence Lessing, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Leonardo Da Vinci. Maybe Natalie Portman. Definitely Paulina Rubio.

I do have to say that MySpace has a lot of people who present themselves in other ways on their profiles. I'll talk to anyone, but frankly, if your profile is structured to offend or shock people and solely revolves around that purpose, we might not have much in common. Perhaps I will get some nasty e-mail about this, but that's life. Avant-garde, artiste, bohemian; I understand this. These have a positive point, even if there is the need to pursue it in a circular fashion. And that's the difference.

Enough said.
