PINDRAL is a Denver-based progressive rock band. We perform original material, as well as, prog covers. Larry, Steve and Dave have been friends for some time and have been playing together with a handful of various musicians since 2000. Perhaps our most successful venture was the infamous 4th of July backyard performance of the 7-piece Greenwood Project. Well, maybe it wasn't that infamous. Over time a few members came and went and eventually it came time for a new drummer. A few years ago we came into the acquaintance of Jamie via the Colorado Art Rock Society. We quickly realized we had more than a few things in common personally and musically, and to top it all off we learned we all live in the same part of town. Sure makes practicing easier! Jamie comes from the well respected, Colorado-based band Singularity. In 2006, as fate often has a way of appearing just when you least expect it, we reconnected with someone we had previously worked with a few years prior, Gretchen Kunz. Gretchen is an incredibly talented vocalist, guitarist, flautist and song writer. We are very excited about future Pindral endeavors and all the interesting possibilities she adds to our musical mix.
As of this time we do not have any official recordings available, but we are slowly working on it. Our focus has been more towards putting on live shows. As mentioned we have a variety of cover tunes in our repertoire which include songs by such artists as King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Camel, Genesis, Asia, Tony Levin, Opeth and we are working on new ones as well. These songs combined with our original tunes, we feel, makes for a very nice engaging mix for a live show.
We are proud to offer the first full-length samples of our original songs in an “official bootleg†manner. These were recorded at The Oriental Theater back on March 11, 2007. The recording method was with live room mics so what you hear is pretty much how it came across to the audience.
Pindral original tunes:
Metro Spacial Groove - Rhythmic song that will take you on a trip...on the Metro. Features Gretchen’s soulful vocals. If you don’t feel like dancing, do the butt boogie.
First Thunder - Relates the emotional ebbs and flows of the first thunder storm of the year. It’s a mini-epic of sorts.
Dark One - Heavier and angular composition with glimpses of brighter things to come.
Avalanche - Fun, upbeat tune with a story of a magpie who inadvertently starts a catastrophic act of nature.
