Reggae Vibes Productions NL“Based in the New England area, the reggae band Joint Chiefs, have been playing to capacity crowds since 1996 and still going strong. Their debut set ‘No Boundary’ consists of some 10 tracks, all produced by Double Jointed Sound. The band has a strong "roots & culture" feel. When listening to the album from the start, one experiences that Joint Chiefs' efforts are riddim driven pieces and that their music has a strong jazzy feel, but the reggae backdrop is present on all tracks. The tunes offered here are fully developed compositions and three of them come with fine dub versions. All of the tunes are original material; with standout tracks being the opening tune Launch Us, followed by Balance and Culture. ?Original riddims, good singing and the distinctive arrangements make this an enjoyable album!â€Teacher & Mr. T “Album Review†2/17/02Boston Metro“…one of the areas best reggae bands.â€Ken Copobianco “Club Picks†9/20/01BAND HISTORY
Formation
What started in 1995 as an open rehearsal stemming from the love of reggae music has manifested into a well-driven vehicle to promote uplifting, danceable music worldwide. From the beginning, Joint Chiefs have been maintaining a refreshingly positive live reggae sound in the New England area. Premiering at well-known local clubs such as The House of Blues, The Middle East, The Milky Way, Aerosmith’s Mama Kin and Harper’s Ferry among others, audience support has grown increasingly with the continuous progress of the bands’ music. With firm roots in Boston, enthusiasts and listeners alike have now branched out internationally, satisfying their widely different musical tastes.Breaking Cultural Barriers
As the Joint Chiefs’ musicians come from various cultural backgrounds, so do the sounds that they create although never straying far from the roots foundation in jamming Reggae music. The overwhelming diversity of Reggae music styles throughout history has enabled Joint Chiefs to draw inspiration from early Ska, Rock Steady, and Roots Rock in addition to the modern Dancehall styles of today. The music from the album “No Boundary†is embraced not just live but is recognized regularly on the airwaves, appearing on the play lists of radio and dancehall DJ’s.This release from Blue Bee Records has allowed the Joint Chiefs to formulate their sound, while having the pleasure of working with the masterful engineer, veteran Philip Smart.
The idea of working with widely renowned reggae artists is not foreign to Joint Chiefs. Resourceful connections have given the group the opportunity to perform at large venues sharing successful concert performances with top showcase singers such as Anthony B., Sister Nancy, Marcia Griffiths, Norris Man, Tippa Irie, Peter Hunningale and more. These opportunities have not only given the band connections with others in the industry, it has also earned the group strong elements of stability and confidence to be used in studio recordings and at concerts to come.MEMBERS:Kreg Akira Fujita, vocals.
