About Me

Mixing a heart pumping hard rock/metal feel with a bold melodic presence, bluesy solos, and inviting vocal melodies that pull you into the music, Blackwater Prophecy brings to mind an extravagant almost theatrical feel which transcends its five piece ensemble. Blackwater Prophecy, as it stands today, started making music in 2004 when Syren joined the band adding lyrics and melody to Mat’s arrangements. Soon after the band began playing local shows at well known Hollywood venues such as The Whiskey A Go Go, the Gig, and even smaller but known venues such as the CIA. The band was featured on MySpace in September of 2006 and since then has had a couple line-up changes bringing Nate into the songwriting circle and transitioning the band into 2007.
It’s only fair to say each member has their own influences so for the band to collectively decide on major influences is a difficult task. They each bring something different to add flavor, from Metal, to Progressive, to Folk and coming up with their own style to suit their collective taste since the goal is to write music they would be fans of. What sets the music apart from most of what you’ll hear today is the style in female vocals set to the music which most often has screaming or operatic singing. Whether the song is aggressive and heavy or calm and euphonious, there seems to be a balance both familiar and yet unique between vocals and music. These distinctions helped Blackwater Prophecy land their Featured Artist spot on MySpace, invitations from the Whisky to play for their popular female fronted events, and brought about excitement and anticipation from their fans over the release of their debut album “Echoes” in 2007.
“Music is our passion and so like any artist who fashions their passions into form, we want to share our art, and we hope that it will move and inspire people and somehow make their life better. All we can ever offer is a piece of ourselves with every note and every word. There are many bands out there formed in the name of money and vanity, and while the dream is to live comfortably while doing what you love, the important thing to us and that what we love is loved… with that said, all we have to offer is the best that we can produce.” ~Syren of Blackwater Prophecy

Is anyone else annoyed by the Avril Lavigne songs that are forced on us?

I'm not saying she is talentless... because in all honesty she really isn't... But her songs have no substance and are nothing but ear worms... thank you major labels! But that was not the original int...
