Mr. Lake, better known as “Lakes”, started rapping in Junior High School around the era of “Kris Kross will make you, Jump! Jump!” A Vallejo, California native, ‘Lakes’ was motivated to rap at an early age by sheer love of the craft, along with peer, family and bay area influence. ‘Lakes’ has compiled a wealth of noteworthy tracks. As a member of the group ‘3rd Party (3P)’ in ‘00-‘01, ‘Lakes’ rapped under the name ‘The Erbalist’ and recorded uncut raps over beat boxed beats with ‘3P’ affiliate ‘Chris P d-nero (of Playa Extraordinaire Entertainment/ PLX. Ent.), with such tracks entitled: Become a Fan, It’s Official, Fettuccini, and many more.In ‘02-’03, 3rd Party went on to record tracks with esteemed producer/engineer Poach Stevens, with tracks entitled: Where’s the Party, Crashin’; She’s Bad; Spell My Name, Ice Burg, and many more. In ’03, 3rd Party also recorded with engineer extraordinaire ‘Dre’ of Poorman Productions in Richmond, with tracks entitled; Liquorish; Break Your Rewind; and For Real, For Real. 3P also started their performing career at the Mare Island Sports Complex.In ’04-’05, 3rd Party went into the studio with one of the Bay Area’s hottest new & upcoming Rap Artist/Producer/Engineer, ‘Young Smitt.’ 3rd Party recorded many songs under Young Smitt’s label, at the time called ‘Tipsy Entertainment’, with tracks entitled: Morph, The Weed & The Cash, It’s Nothing, and many more. In ’05 “Lakes” began making his on beats and branched out to record solo tracks, with tracks entitled: Who is He; Somethin’ about Him; It’s Complicated; and many more. Lakes also recorded tracks with featured artist’s, like Young Smitt, Big H, Chris P d-nero, the Hood Fellas, and others.From 2005 to the present, Lakes has become an Engineer/Producer/Artist under his own label: Soulman Productions Lake Music (or namely “Lakes Music”). At Soulman Productions Lake Music, “Lakes” has recorded with polished artists like CheapSkate the Great (of Sic’wid’it Records), Young Smitt (of 65max), Ronnie B the Cali-Rican, SpeakEasy Jones, and Young Hicks with tracks entitled, respectively: 5 In the Morning, In the Booth, No Games, Nothin’ Personal, 30 below, and many more. “Lakes” has put together three full length albums with a plethora of tracks to spare; the albums are titled: Rhythm & Me, Dialogue of a Playa/Discretion of a Gentleman- The Tug of War, and The Blurbiage Album. 'Lakes' has sold many beats and performed at venues, most notably Club Six in San Francisco, California.‘Lakes Music’ is a blend of melodic sounds and highly prolific grammar. ‘Lakes’ displays rhetoric of wordplay beyond reason i.e. Messages within Messages/Puzzles within Puzzles… The Art of ‘Lakes music’ must be pondered sensibly, as well, abstractly. ‘Lakes Music’ is definitely head bobbing, toe tapping, dancing music that can be played in clubs/parties or can be listened to while driving. Mr. Lake is currently enrolled in a University Human Services program with aspirations to assist the World in a more diverse capacity.
