About Me

Peace Takes Courage
I am 28 years old and graduated with my Master's degree in Public Administration in May 2007. I've lived in Vegas working on a political campaign and then New Hampshire until January 10th, 2008, then I traveled for a month for work, lived in D.C. (my mecca) for six months then moved back to the Seattle area. I live on Queen Anne and love it!I've been to 47 out of the 50 states and I can't wait to revisit so many of those 47 states, preferably the New England area and most specifically Maine, my heaven on earth.

This quote about Sociology should explain a lot about me:
"People who like to avoid shocking discoveries, who prefer to believe that society is just what they were taught in Sunday School, who like the safety of the rules and the maxims of what Alfred Schuetz has called the 'world-taken-for-granted," should stay away from sociology. People who feel no temptation before closed doors, who have no curiousity about human beings, who are content to admire scenery without wondering about the people who live in those houses on the other side of that river, should probably also stay away from sociology. They will find it unpleasant or, at any rate, unrewarding. People who are interested in human beings only if they can change, convert or reform them should also be warned, for they will find sociology much less useful than they hoped. Any people whose interest is mainly in their own conceptual constructions will do just as well to turn to the study of little white mice. Sociology will be satisfying, in the long run only to those who can think of nothing more entrancing than to watch men and to understand things human." Peter Berger

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

"I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream." Van Gogh

"The past is prophetic in that it asserts loudly that wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

"The arms race can kill, though the weapons themselves may never be used...by their cost alone, armaments kill the poor by causing them to starve." -- Vatican statement to the U.N., 1976

"One is left with the horrible feeling now that war settles nothing; that to win a war is as disastrous as to lose one." Agatha Christie

"Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount." Omar N. Bradley

"Give me the money that has been spent in war and I will clothe every man, woman, and child in an attire of which kings and queens will be proud. I will build a schoolhouse in every valley over the whole earth. I will crown every hillside with a place of worship consecrated to peace." ~Charles Sumner

"Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind...War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same reputation and prestige that the warrior does today." -- John F. Kennedy

"Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime" Ernest Hemingway

"In the secret of my heart I am in perpetual quarrel with God that He should allow such things [as the war] to go on. My non-violence seems almost impotent. But the answer comes at the end of the daily quarrel that neither God nor non-violence is impotent. Impotence is in men. I must try on without losing faith even though I may break in the attempt." Mahatma Gandhi

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson
