As of January 22, 2008 UPDATE ! --- Ryan's attorney, Val Leftwich, filed several motions with the Boone County Circuit Court. One motion pertained to the DNA and fingerprints in the case. Two others pertained to obtaining Erickson's mental health records as well as a request for a current mental health evaluation.We visit Ryan every week and he continues to stay strong. We are all encouraged and know that it is just a matter of time before his innocence is proven. In the next 2 months his attorney will present the results of their investigation to the court. We want to thank each of you for your continued support. Ryan's oral argument for an appeal took place Nov. 8th, we feel we went as best it could have. We will have to wait for the judge's decision. On March 10, 2004, I was arrested for a murder that took place Halloween night of 2001. I would've been 17 years old when the victim was murdered in my hometown, Columbia, Missouri. Since March 10, 2004, my life as I knew it was over. I have been in jail and then prison ever since and that is where I am now. HOWEVER, I WAS PLACED AT THE SCENE BY MY HIGH SCHOOL FRIEND, CHUCK ERICKSON. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? HE CAN NOT EVEN RECALL ANY SPECIFICS OF THE MURDER HE WAS "INVOLVED" IN.....(until later, after he is coached by Prosecuting Attorney, KEVIN CRANE, Chuck even admits to this on the stand, during my trial) THE ONLY FACTS CHUCK CAN RECALL WERE WRITTEN IN NEWSPAPER ARTICLES... WHEN POLICE FIRST PICKED CHUCK UP, HE IS QUOTED AS SAYING, I THINK I MAY HAVE DREAMED THIS. WHY? CHUCK DOESN'T REMEMBER HAVING BEEN INVOLVED IN THE MURDER OF SOMEONE UNTIL NEARLY 2 YEARS AFTER IT HAPPENED. HE BEGINS TELLING FRIENDS THAT HE THINKS HE HAD THIS DREAM ABOUT MURDERING SOMEONE IN THE TRIBUNE PARKING LOT ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT. BIZARRE? EXTREMELY! WHY WOULD CHUCK CONFESS TO A CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT? False confessions are happenning more than we think! Police are so hungry for a conviction, that they will do anything! Especially, if it is to solve a high profile case in a small college town like Columbia, Missouri, where the police had no suspects or leads in 2 years. NOT UNTIL Chuck Erikson began having dreams. "I may just be fabricating this..." Chuck says in one police interrogation video. PLUS, DID I MENTION THERE IS NO DNA EVIDENCE??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT, A 6'3, OVER 300 POUND MAN WAS BEATEN AND STRANGLED BY TWO 17 YEAR OLDS WHO HAD BEEN DRINKING AND THERE IS ZERO DNA EVIDENCE LEFT BEHIND? THE MOTIVE??? THE POLICE AND PROSECUTING ATTORNEY WILL LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE IT WAS A ROBBERY...HOWEVER, THE VICTIM'S WALLET, WHICH WAS SITTING ON THE CONSOLE INSIDE THE CAR, WAS LEFT BEHIND!CHUCK IS LITERALLY SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THAT THE VICTIM WAS STRANGLED WITH HIS OWN BELT. THE POLICE ASK CHUCK (SINCE HE WAS THERE....) HOW THE VICTIM WAS STRANGLED. CHUCK SAYS, "WITH A ROPE, A BUNGEE CORD, A SHIRT..." HE HAS NO CLUE. HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED EXCEPT FOR DETAILS THAT WERE IN THE NEWSPAPERS. IT TRULY IS UNBELIEVABLE!! TWO 17 YEAR OLD KIDS COMMIT THE PERFECT CRIME! NO EVIDENCE, NO BLOOD FOUND IN RYAN'S CAR, (WHICH THE BOYS TOOK HOME THAT NIGHT), NO BLOOD FOUND IN CHUCK'S HOME. (THE POLICE DIDN'T EVEN SEARCH RYAN FERGUSON'S HOME) SOUND A LITTLE FAR FETCHED? IT IS!! BUT, this is my life. Since the airing of the 48 Hours show, more and more people are slowly starting to become aware of my story. I have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and support from people. My family is doing everything they can to prove my innocence. My trial finally took place in October of 2005, unbelievably, I was found Guilty and sentenced to 40 years of my life in prison. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP HOPE! My attorneys thought this would be an easy win for them. They were not prepared for the theatrics of Prosecutor Kevin Crane who like all politians, was merely interested in winning, not justice. He put an innnocent person in prison, how does he live with himself? My sister Kelly, told me about MY SPACE. .. width="425" height="350" ..I don't now what I would do without music. My three favorite channels are MTV, VH1, and CMT. I love all kinds of music. You've got to check out the song "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan, it's about a black man that was wrongly convicted of a triple murder...he was later exonerated! There is a movie about him called "Hurricane", Denzel Washington plays him.... In particular, I like Sublime, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Oldies, The Doors, anything from the Forrest Gump soundtrack, Bob Dylan, Older rap/old school rap and hip hop. I love Tupac and Biggie, Crucial Conflict, Too Short, Big L, Do or Die. I really like "I'm Bossy" by Kelis, the milk shake girl. Most recently, I have really begun to love country music. The Rascal Flats get me everytime! The Eagles, the Doors, Richie Rich, CCR...any kind of classical music too! Yeah, I'm being serious. When I was 9, I made my mom buy me all of Beethoven's classics. :)

We are currently trying to find out how we could get a petition going online. We aren't sure exactly how to go about this and if it needs to be done through legal channels...but once we get that figured out, we will send it to everyone in our address book to sign. Ryan's case is currently being appealed but the process could take up to a year. If the judges rule that Ryan be allowed a new trial, we then begin the process all over again. The legal system is extremely slow. Ryan's attorney has completed the brief and it was forwarded to the attorney general's office on July 11th. They have 3 months to respond but could also ask for an extension. It then goes to the appellate court in Kansas City. There will be a short oral argument allowed in Kansas City, then the judges have up to 6 months to make their decision.
