GINO FUENTES

About Me

His name is Gino Fuentes... a musician by nature, a DJ/Producer by trade. Involved with music pretty much since he was competent enough to play an instrument, Gino took piano lessons and played countless recitals as a young child, something that he claims to have hated his parents for at the time but now thanks them for many years down the line. As a teenager, he took up guitar & was the lead guitarist and main song writer for 2 separate Miami local rock bands, Headcase (1998-2000) and Forever Lost (2001-2003), which performed throughout the state of Florida. After coming to the realization that it was nearly impossible to coordinate 5 people with completely different interests and schedules, Gino gave up on the bands and turned my attention to what had been a hobby at the time, something that would allow him to express himself as a creative individual through music, DJing.

With early roots in hip hop and rock scratching, he began to study and practice his new interest in 2001. In March of 2002, however, Gino had my life forever changed after attending his 1st Ultra Music Festival at Miami’s Bayfront Park. He instantly fell in love with Electronic Music and it's many forms and turned most of his attention to that ever-expansive genre instead of the predominantly hip hop & rock format he had been playing up to that point. The rest is history. Eventually, he would start running around with promotion groups, picking up whatever gigs he could on the Miami club scene. In late 2003, Gino began his 1st residency at Jade Nightclub in South Beach, a weekly Saturday Night party for the South Beach lesbian community. Shortly there after, he found himself performing the opening set on Florida All Stars Stage at Ultra Music Festival 6 in 2004.

In late 2005, Gino started what would eventually become his own radio show on Miami's WRGP Radiate FM with friend and original co-host, Stephen Peters who, at the time, was also a DJ on the now defunct Party 93.1 FM. Now close to 3 years running, ‘The 3rd Realm’ has been key in helping to propel his DJ career. Because of the nature of the program which features weekly talented guests from the many corners of the Miami dance scene as well as artists from around the country and abroad, it has been an extremely useful platform that has enabled him to meet and make connections with some of the top DJs, producers & promoters in Miami and throughout the world. Gino has since played at the Ultra Music Festival 4 consecutive years, each time spearheading a promotional partnership between WRGP Radiate FM and the festival itself which is year in and year out, the single biggest yearly promotional campaign on the station.

At this point experience wise, Gino Fuentes has DJed at most of what of what many consider to be the best clubs in South Florida. This extensive list of venues includes Space, Eden, Nocturnal, Parkwest Nightclub, Gryphon Nightclub, The Cove, Discotekka, Revolution, Pawnshop and many others. In addition, he recently concluded a year-long residency with Invite Miami's Cache Saturdays, held at PawnShop & Allure Nightclub, which was week in and week out, one of the top 3 drawing Saturday night parties in Downtown Miami and has had the opportunity of sharing the decks with the likes of Max Graham, Chris Moody, Austin Leeds, Willie Morales, Parantula, Roland, Patrick M, George Morel, Coleen Shannon, Miss Lisa, Ariel G & countless other notable acts.

As a producer, his career officially began in October of 2007 with the commercial release of his 1st original production, "Take Me There" on Department of Dance Recordings. The track included remixes from Joe Cozzi, the label’s owner, as well as up-and-comers, Calderin & Albe Duran. In June of 2008, he released his 1st official remix , re-interpreting Lesamoor's "I Like It." Following the success of the “I Like It” remix, Gino then released his 2nd official remix, rehashing "Turistas" by Albe Duran, also on Department of Dance Recordings in early 2009. In addition to his musical official releases, he has also created countless bootlegs and track-edits which can usually be heard during his live DJ sets, creating a truly unique dance floor environment.

Truly, this is one of a very select few artists in a vastly overcrowded Miami dance scene that bears watching and at the relatively young age of 26, the sky appears to be the limit.
