About Me

Offbeat (A.K.A Onslow Bucket) first began writing lyrics at the age of 13 under the influence of artists such as Ice-T and NWA. Living in the Cotswolds, he found it increasingly difficult to justify writing lyrics about inner city American ghettos and set out to create something more relative to his experience... It wasn't until he began to listen to artists from this side of the water that he realised the potential of what could be achieved. In 2002 he wrote and performed a song celebrating Skinnyman's release from prison which he went on to record with DJ Flip (big up). A few months later he entered a battle on BBC 1xtra and advanced to the final where he eventually won the grand prize. A short while after he was invited back to the station to perform with Ace and Invisible on a slot showcasing up and coming talent. In 2003 he wrote and recorded a single but due to various complications this was never released (it is however intended for future use). Offbeat has also performed at numerous live events and supported some of the top names in the industry including Klashnekoff, Phi Life Cypher and most recently, Raekwon the Chef of the Wu Tang Clan.In 2005 he teamed up with old skool friend (quite literally) and fellow rapper Fenetik to form The Breadwinners and record the E.P 'Born & Bread'. Immediately after its completion, Offbeat relocated to Bristol to study Graphic Design but quickly decided to abandon higher education. He does however remain in Bristol where he continues to work, make music and write autobiographies in the third person.
