The Malcontents were formed in 1997 as a part-time studio project by Bart Sinister. His first recording was a cover of "The Mercy Seat" by Nick Cave, which appeared on a limited edition cassette titled "What Can We Give You?" A post-punk cover of Neil Diamond's classic "Love on the Rocks" followed, then Sinister began to record older original material such as "The Silence" (1989), "Christine Falling" (1993), a collaboration with current bass player Divaluxe, and "Solitary" (1998).
The Malcontents are currently gigging with an impressive line up of seasoned musicians, such as Stevyn Grey, Jeremy Meza and Tommy Marcel. The set includes an updated tribal version of "Stain", a Bloodflag song that appeared on Cleopatra's "Merry Maladies" compilation in 1998.
Recording will begin in the spring of 2006.
