About Me

Create your own visitor map!
Short answer: mortal human, neither greater nor lesser than any other.Long answer: Professionally, I make my living as a jazz/piano bar pianist, a cabaret/musical theater musical director, and an accompanist for vocal classes at a drama academy (Please visit www.sheldonforrest.com). Spiritually, was baptised and confirmed in the Anglican Episcopal church, but spent more time in the Unitarian Universalist church and was essentially raised as a freethinking secular humanist. I have for some time felt most comfortable in the fold of Mahayana Buddhism as expounded by His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso the Dalai Lama-in-Exile of Tibet. Politically, I am a democratic/libertarian socialist in the mold of Noam Chomsky and Barbara Ehrenreich, an Internationalist and a lifelong Leftist, although unlike some "leftists" I take unambiguous stances in opposition to capitalism and imperialism (which have done more to degrade humanity and life on this planet in the modern age than any other forces), thus Bush's "War on Terror" (including the war on Afghanistan) and all imperialist war. I believe in nonviolent resistance as taught by Tolstoy, Gandhi, and MLK. I further support Hugo Chavez's Bolivarian Revolution, the World Social Forum, and the 9/11 Truth Movement. The only U.S. presidential contenders I have supported were Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich. By the time of the next U.S. election I intend to be comfortably installed in Paris, France. Genealogically, my family has been in North America since the 1620s and my bloodlines are primarily English (London, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire, Staffordshire), French (Paris, Orleans, Lyon) and Irish (McMillens, McGees, and Devines, oh my), with lesser strains of Italian (Lucca, Cremona) German (Berlin) and Swiss (Geneva). Orientation-wise I am very much in love with The Feminine and as such I am exclusively attracted to women, but the majority of my male friends are gay. I'd also like to say that I can't stand the following models of masculinity: The Soldier, The Cop, The Boss, The Cowboy, The Hunter, The Golfer, The Dumb Brute, The All-American, The Guido, The Gangster, The Pimp, The Successful Businessman/"Master Of The Universe," The Jock, The Guy Who's Into Cars, The Party Animal, The Action Hero, The Couch Potato/TV Addict, The Avid Sports Fan, The Bouncer/Security Guard type, The Meathead--you get the picture. My idea of what a man is: someone--gay, straight, bi- or other--who stands his ground, speaks his mind fearlessly and engages his life with appetite and energy. Women I see as generally Divine, except when they subscribe to the nonsense I just listed. Condoleeza Rice, Ann Coulter, and the late Margaret Thatcher are examples of the exceptions. Other than that I am an avid reader and traveller and consider myself a Global Citizen and a Student of Life. Despite that I am strongly opinionated, I am also of the strong opinion that humility is a virtue well worth cultivating. As such I welcome discussion with any and everyone. Just don't waste my time with stupid arguments, because life is short. Love to all.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'm particularly interested in meeting singers (to work on cabaret shows) and instrumentalists, especially bassists and drummers/percussionists (to do jazz ensemble work/jams). I welcome invitations from musical theater groups to do musical-director work. Aside from that, I like to meet intelligent, talented people in general; people whose spiritual inclinations are not orthodox or fundamentalist but rather are on a sincere, continuing personal quest to find their harmony with the universe; people whom I would describe as politically progressive; people who love books and travel; people who like myself consider themselves Global Citizens and Students of Life; people who help keep live musical & theatrical performance viable in our culture; people able to get over their own egos; people able to have lively discussions that can include all manner of disagreements without being personally disagreeable.
You Are Animal
A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.
You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.
But you sure can beat a good drum.
