Rapper/Producer Parris Austin takes his audience on a journey every time his music is heard.
This multi-talented artist has successfully merged his talents together to develop a sound that is
both familiar and new, while still maintaining the New York City natural edge. It has been said
that P. Austin’s music is classic east coast rap with a hint of Kanye West, as featured on
artistdirect.com (05/06).
P. Austin is currently working on his debut album titled "Rock The Beat". While still keeping the
balance between being an independent artist and pushing for a major recording/distribution deal,
it has been said that P. Austin is the key. His music is a cumulative collection of rap history
versus the future of the next generation. Parris Austin is no stranger to performing. He’s had the
opportunity to open for major artists such as Nelly, Destiny Child, Mobb Deep, D12, and many
more. There is a list of venues he is currently set to appear at in major hotspots from coast to
coast. Over the years, he has been producing for artists across all the major music spots within
the country. Parris Austin’s passion for the art does not only stop at recording or performing. He
has also helped launch an upcoming radio program for unsigned and independent artists/ labels
called "The Treazy Radio Show" (treazyradioshow.com). They’ve surpassed their 100th episode
with many special features, and still continue to increase their listener audience around the world weekly.
Growing up in New York City, P. Austin experienced pure hip-hop at a young age. He saw the
music business from neighborhood artists, such as Kool G. Rap, Eric B. & Rakim, Salt-N-Pepa,
Kid-N-Play, LL Cool J, and even Kwame. Watching the jams in the parks at night, while the
turntables were plugged into the lamp post, and rappers battled, gave him insight to the culture
that most artist emulate from TV but don’t fully understand. Having a close realative who was a
radio disc jockey, so music is in Parris Austin’s veins. "I feel like there’s a reason why I was there
at the beginning. If this was the Matrix movie, I’m starting to feel like Neo" is what he stated in
Next Level’s March ’03 magazine issue. Since then, he has achieved large exposure across the
country including websites like the popular American Idol Underground (idolunderground.com).
It is a site affiliated with the hit television series "American Idol". It’s where "P" is closely
watched as a popular artist, as he continues to win contests (Weekly On-Demand, Rap
Competition, and March Competition). He was also a Big Push Finalist, also mentioned in
American Idol Magazine Vol. 2 / Issue4.
With his innovative beats and powerful lyrics, it’s apparent that P. Austin is ready to start chasing
the reality of becoming part of the next dynasty. With a fourth quarter mix-tape surfacing and an
early 2008 album release for "Rock The Beat", there could be a new meaning to the saying "The
streets is watching."
