I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I've done a million things so far, and I keep running around, trying to start new stuff, do new projects, play new music, paint new pictures and more...
Some of the stuff I've done in the past:
-I was a DJ at KFJC 89.7fm from 1988 to 1993 (give or take). You may have heard me as Mona Lott, spinning lots of dancey, throbbing industrial tunes.
-I worked at an Emergency Animal Clinic for 14 years. Mostly clerical stuff, but I know a thang or two about pets.
-I was a founding member and upright bassist of an all-girl psychobilly band called the Formaldebrides until 2005.
-I've owned three seperate businesses, involving vintage clothes, coffee, and a place to have shows.
-I worked at Pizza Hut for one day, back in 1991.
-I've worked with victims of domestic violence, helping them get back on their feet after leaving their asshole husband/boyfriend.
-I've written music and show reviews for small magazines.
So with all that in mind, I'm a generally happy girl who keeps busy. People keep telling me I'm on the wrong coast, that I have an "East Coast attitude." I'm very direct, honest, to the point. Not afraid of pissing anyone off, although I won't lie in order to prevent it. Interestingly enough, I'm also frequently told that I'm easy to talk to. However, I just don't have time for lies and bullshit. I'm efficient, you see. I much prefer talking (you know, that 'communication' thing?) over differences and conflicts, rather than dealing with assumptions and resentment.
I'm a good listener who cares about people and I like to see my friends happy. I have about eight million hobbies, and I can't get enough of any of them. I'm also big goddam smart ass and have been known to have a twisted and goofy sense of humor. I'm not much of a party chick, not a huge drinker. But I'll ride rollercoasters or play old school video games any day of the week. I'm fiercely independent, and more of an introvert than an extrovert. I love people watching. Very much a Taurus... I'm really into vintage fashion, nifty funky antiques, photography, haunted houses and old cars. I'm a bass playin' bitch. I draw, paint and do costuming for films when I can, especially period pieces. I run a vintage clothing store. Honesty, loyalty and kindness are very important to me. I love originality, creativity and style. I'll kick your ass if you hurt my friends, but other than that, I wouldn't harm a fly. I am the friend who will ALWAYS be there for you, hold you on your sad days and bring you soup when you are sick. I'm an optimist, pretty cheery and happy all the time, blunt, honest, to the point. I'll help you see the good side of things, but tell you to shut up when you complain too much.
If you'd like to see some of my photography, check it out here. I don't have too many photos up, but it's a pretty good example of my work. I'll be showing some of it soon, and selling a few prints as well. ..

My Interests

Vintage clothes, FASHION, photography, bass playing, eating ice cream and candy, crocheting, cats, forensics, buddhism, mid-century stuff, Corvairs, learning new things, true crime, tattoos, being cute, Vespas, haunted houses, historical stuff, being sarcastic, music, music, music, randomness, science and space.

I'd like to meet:

Optimistic people rule. People who are honest, loyal and know what they want. People who will be there for you when they say they will, not the types who claim to be your best friend and then don't even have the courtesy to call you back when you are having a crisis.
Do you rock? DO YOU? Then drop a line.
Selfish people, snobs, and people who feel the world owes them something: stay the hell away from me. Same goes for you passive agressive fucks. Go away.

A thought...

I read this on a website the other day, and it has been permanently etched in my thoughts ever since: "Living your life is so difficult, because it's never been attempted before." Damn.
