Kelani (kay la' nee) adj < Hawaiian, The Heavenly> Expressing her talent at a very young age, Kelani was given her first keyboard at the wee age of eighteen months. By the time she was seven yrs old, Kelani was ready for formal classical piano training and studied for ten years under a wonderful teacher, Dr. Sammie Tucker. Kelani performed in many recitals and competitions all over the country. At sixteen she met Tony Hooper, an accomplished Christian recording artist and musician. Together they co-wrote and produced "Speechless", "Where Angels Fear", and "Say Life, Say Love". Sometime later, Kelani composed and produced "Flying", "Yours Truly", and "Love Is" finishing her first EP album at eighteen. During this time, she landed her first gig playing every weekend at a local restaurant, Siam Thai, quickly building her local fan base. Later that year, Kelani traveled to Nashville, TN to check out the infamous Music City. While in Nashville, she met and studied with vocal coach Brett Manning (Can You Duet). Kelani continues to practice Brett's amazing techniques on her own. At age eighteen she performed her original songs at the Greater Gulf Coast Arts Festival in Pensacola, FL selling every CD she had taken with her. She has since relocated to Music City to work and learn from the experienced talent Nashville has to offer. Now at age twenty, Kelani wants to perform her own style of music, currently writing and recording more of what she loves to do.
