Dj Patience - Nasty Ways, Influential/Dyne Records

About Me

About Me It all started 8 years ago.. I got my first big event in Gloucester, playing with a top flight headline DJ. This then led on to small local events where I really learnt the trade. Around about 1997 I was playing major events all over the UK. Pandemonium were the first big promotion to take an interest and I went on to resident for them for 12 months. I also entered the Muzik Mix Master Class DJ tournament at Warwick University, where I finished runner up. In 1998 I was on my way up to Essex to be signed to Influential records where I released my first Drum and Bass track, Once Again. This track was played regularly on the scene by most of the top DJs and was also used for the Friday gig guide on Radio 1. I enjoyed 4 magnificent years with Influential, releasing 8 tracks, and 1 album mainstream and world wide. They all received massive radio play, from the likes of Fabio, Grooverider and John Peel, who actually wrote to me and thanked me for the tracks! ( legend ). I am currently working on new material after a couple of years out of the studio, mainly to concentrate on my club work. I now, in 2006, am working on a superb liquid track, and am hoping to get into the swing of things with a few local producers who are certainly on the move with in the scene. Promotion wise, I'm co running Nasty Ways, which is now a steady night in Evesham, Worcester. This runs on a monthly basis and is a roadblock every month!I have residented for way too many promotions to name, some I have even forgotten, but all have been very successful and I have enjoyed the support and reception I have received from the punters. The main events would be as follows , Dreamscape, Hysteria, Sonic Boom, Chemical Records ( Resident ), Southern Exposure (Wales), Pandemonium ( Resident ), Formation Records ( Resident ) , Nocturnal Combustion, Mind Games, Die Hard, Atomic Jam, Raveology,I have also played radio sets over the years, but mostly anthem sets from 89 93, which takes me nicely on to the next chapter I have been DJing for years now, and over the years have bought vinyl simply through my interest in music. I have a record collection which spans right across the board, from old school hardcore right up to funky house. I have played hundreds of Sasha anthem sets all over the country. Over the last 2 years I have been playing funky house in a handful of events in the Midlands. Anything from commercial house to underground funk. Although Drum and Bass has been a way of life for me over the past 8 10 years.I still have a desire to continue to play house at any available opportunity. I have gone under a different alias when playing house in and around Birmingham. J Anthony was a name thought up by my best friend, who is also a promoter. With my name being Justin Anthony Smith it seemed to suit. I play every 2 weeks at a venue called Mojos in the Midlands, which is across the board commercial and deep funky house. Also I have played at Frisky in Kidderminster on a number of occasions, warming up for the main headline DJ.
