MONTH OF SUNDAYS - w EPICURE on the 20th of June

About Me

A five-piece musical suite, Month of Sundays is proud of it's Ballarat origins. The sound is upbeat and there are mellow grooves that stem from an acoustic sound. While seventies funk, soul and straight rock all get to vote, their sound is uniquely their own.
Forming in mid 2005, MOS have been building a solid fan base, releasing their debut e.p. 'The Live Affair' in september 2006.
'The Live Affair', recorded live at the espy captured the attention of the punters with its winning blend of attention to detail and a raw powerful sound. It's AVAILABLE NOW from Music Man Mega Store, Mid West Music, Rediscovery and at all shows.
Month of Sundays have been tied up in the recording studio in recent months putting the final touches to their 2nd EP, due for release in March. Between sessions the band has been showcasing new material at all shows including the LEMONTREE ROCK ACOUSTIC FESTIVAL, ARTS IN THE PARK & are playing as part of the BRUNSWICK MUSIC FESTIVAL / SYDNEY ROAD STREET PARTY in 2008.

Editorial Review

The quiet town of Ballarat has birthed some fairly notable music acts in the last decade or so; The Mavis's (R.I.P.) and The Lucksmiths come to mind when mentioning “that place with the Begonia Festival”. Well, this thriving hood of minstrels and musos has once more produced an act worth their weight in gold-plated guitar strings; ladies and gentlemen, we give you Month of Sundays. From auspicious beginnings in 2005, the last two years have seen the band support the likes of Jess McAvoy, The Vasco Era, The Custom Kings and Jaimi Faulkner. Not bad, eh?

Their 1st release, the aptly titled The Live Affair was recorded before a packed house at Melbourne's most famous/infamous live music venue, The Espy. In front of a live audience, the Sundays crew drew together an aural landscape of funked-up hooks, soulful rhythms and raw, powerful sound. To say the crowd was salivating by the end of the show is understating (and slightly disturbing).

If you're keen on getting your own piece of Month of Sundays action, the lads are working on their 2nd EP, to be released this March. And if you're one of the forgotten souls who always complains that you “you had the chance to see *insert-band-name-here* before they became famous, but missed out,” don't let it happen again. See Month of Sundays while you can still afford the ticket price.
