Do you enjoy travel, National Parks, the Great Outdoors, photography, camping, hiking, or just a good story - especially one that can make you laugh?
I do, so after one "dream career" as a national park ranger in 8 parks all over the country, I set out on a second one as a writer to share a collection of fun stories about some of the weird and amazing things that you can experience if you're lucky enough to work as a park ranger. If you wonder what could possibly go wrong on a trip to a nice, safe spot like a national park, the answer is - probably more than you could ever imagine!
Hey Ranger! True Tales of Humor and Misadventure from America's National Parks has had a great reception around the country. The book takes a fun look at the lighter side of what can happen when a trip by everyday Americans to the Great Outdoors just doesn't turn out as planned - as well as a behind the scenes view of the humorous side of life as a national park ranger.
This is family-friendly reading that everyone from experienced outdoorsmen to armchair travelers will enjoy. Barnes and Noble chose it as one of their selections for their 2006 Father's Day Gift Guide, but this isn't just a book for dads or guys.
You don't have to buy the book to enjoy it (but of course I hope you will :-) You can ask your local library to get a copy if they don't already have one. You can find more details about the book, links to major booksellers and some helpful information about national parks and outdoor safety, at "www.heyranger.com"
The sequel,Hey Ranger 2 - More True Tales of Humor and Misadventure from the Great Outdoors was released in May, 2007 and was selected for the 2007 Barnes and Noble "Father's Day Gift Guide"! You'll find some details about it and links to major on-line sellers at the above website, and also some more information on the blog posted on the book's listing on Amazon.com.
I also enjoy outdoor photography, and have posted a few shots on this page, just below this greeting. The background image on this page was taken at Glacier National Park when I worked there.
Hope you have a great day, and a chance this year to visit a national park or your other favorite place in the Great Outdoors!
If you'd like more information about national park service areas, including links to some very useful websites and some additional park photos, you'll find that on my "National Parks and Monuments" page on Squidoo.com.
