I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships and Friends

About Me

Stop! This feels like a job interview. My least favorite activity is trying to accurately describe myself. I think I should walk around with testimonials from friends stapled to my shirt. OK, where to begin? I've lived a rich and varied life...(cue wavy flashback filter) I was born in New York, grew up in Seattle, moved back to New York alone when I was much, much too young. I've had the displeasure of working on a reality show about inarticulate bikers. I once found $300 in a cab while going to the liquor store to buy two bottles of Cristal for James Brown. The best and worst thing I've done for myself is leave for a year and travel throughout Asia and Australia. I've never felt so alive and completely myself. The struggle is living with the memory of that feeling afterwards. I'm getting ready to embark on a second career as a nurse practitioner, which means a few more years of school are ahead of me. I love school. I think, deep down, I'm an anthropologist at heart. A little scattered, yes, but I'm not going to put my entire biography down. You can look that up for yourself on wikipedia. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Explorin'. Getting lost in other countries and then finding my way again. Education. Almost anything water related: Scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, looking under rocks in tidal pools. I love the sea. Hiking, working out. Watching films, making films. Video editing! Losing hours in creative pursuit. Dancing. Milo Ventimiglia's hair. Meeting wonderful people with stories to tell. Having adventures.

I'd like to meet:

Maybe, just maybe...You!!! I spent much of last year getting over my first big relationship and now its time to start meeting and dating again. I'm excited/terrified to get back out there again. Even if love isn't in the cards, I still am looking for good-hearted, fun people with a streak of eccentricity to be friends with.

Music:

Here are a few faves: Belle and Sebastian, Bjork, Sigur Ros, Air, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Arcade Fire, Velvet Underground, Issac Hayes, Joseph Arthur, Blondie, Ladytron, Goldfrapp, New Order, Os Mutantes, Underworld, ABBA, The Beatles, Goran Bregovic, Buena Vista Social Club, The Delays, Massive Attack, Edith Piaf, Blur, Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood, The Pixies, The Sleepy Jackson, The Smiths, Tom Waits, Nina Simone, Gorillaz, Serge Gainsbourg, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, The Jam, Marvin Gaye, Muse and of course, Kylie Minogue, among many, many others.

Movies:

Before Sunrise/Sunset, Slacker, Smiles of a Summer Night, Happiness of the Katakuris, Shaolin Soccer, Last Life in the Universe, Chunking Express, Alien, Aliens, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Weekend, The Third Man, Shortbus, The Piano Teacher, City of God, See the Sea, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Borat, The Motorcycle Diaries, Y Tu Mama Tambien, That Obscure Object of Desire, Edward Scissorhands, Dead Man, Stranger Than Paradise, Repulsion, Lovers on the Bridge, Boys Don't Cry, The Road Warrior, Muriel's Wedding, Fat Girl, Fear and Trembling, Heavenly Creatures, Hideous Kinky, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The New World, Flirting With Disaster, Flirting, and Showgirls (esp. if hosted by David Schmader). Many more are out there.

Television:

I don't really watch much TV (thank the almighty), but the show that I got hooked on when I was in Britain was "The Mighty Boosh", the best use of the television format ever! There is just something so clever and charming about it. And it takes place in a zoo with puppet animals! I also like Heroes, The Simpsons (the middle years), Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Strangers With Candy, Absolutely Fabulous, The Office and Charlie Brown Holiday Specials, but not as much as The Mighty Boosh!

Books:

Right now, the only thing I get to read are science textbooks. But once upon a time, I loved "Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Immortality" by Milan Kundera, "The Buddha of Suburbia" by Hanif Kureshi, "Lipstick Traces" by Greil Marcus, "At Swim, Two Boys" by Jamie O'Neal, "Beloved" by Toni Morrison, many Tom Robbins novels, many "X-Men" comic books. I'm having a bit of a mental block on this one. I CAN READ.

Heroes:

Besides my friends and very occasionally my relatives, I would have to say my heroes are Bjork!Jim Jarmusch!and Jacques Cousteau! Fun dinner party, eh? We'd all go scuba diving after it was over.
