Dustin Joel

About Me

When Dustin Joel broke free from his small town roots to start playing live shows in Toronto in 2005, he was an unknown 20-year-old acoustic rock artist. Joel found out quickly that it's a hard road to get your music heard in any big city because you've got to pay your dues before any promoter will give you a chance to play. But with the persistent attitude of Dudebox, Dustin was performing to crowds at such legendary venues as the Cameron House and Horseshoe Tavern before he could blink an eye. Those fortunate enough to have caught one of Joel's live shows agree that his musical talent is undeniable. Despite having just graduated from his teenage years, Joel plays with the intimacy and confidence of an experienced artist who has been touring for years. Joel accomplishes this feat by engaging his audience with powerful melodies and catchy guitar riffs that blend together seamlessly like the colors of a painting.Joel's debut album, Naked has been described by critics as "acoustic rock with soul". There is a rawness and intensity in Joel's voice similar to that of Van Morrison, Ray Charles, Neil Young and the Counting Crow's, Adam Duritz. His lyrics are both personal and compelling, which grab hold of the listener and inspire them to take action in their life and follow their dreams.Overall, Naked is 14-tracks and almost 60 minutes of phenomenal acoustic music. Among the absolute classics on the album are "Velcro Years", "In Your Tracks", "Play Your Part" and "I Should Be Living". To date, Joel's music has been distributed and well received by thousands of fans across North America, Europe, Austrailia and South America. Joel could never imagined in his wildest dreams that people would identify with his album as they have. He looks forward to heading back into the studio soon to begin recording his sophomore release.
