The look on your face yanks my neck on the chain

About Me

I just recently moved from Seattle to Everett, which I pretty much hate, but I love living with my bf and that's where his house is, so what can you do? Now I just get to sleep and read on the bus a lot on my way back down to Seattle, where I have a somewhat boring but well-paying job which I ultimately would like to quit to be a photographer full time, particularly a band photographer. I love music and going to shows, so doing band photography is a great way to combine some of my favorite things. I'm on the Board of Directors for an amazing dance company called WALRUS (check out the My Space page) that produces & performs avant-garde dance, collaborates with local musicians, and lets me shoot for them.I like going to movies and hiking and camping, I love the ocean (particularly La Push on the Olympic Peninsula), my favorite color is blue, my favorite animals are cats and pandas and squirrels, my favorite food is either Phad Thai or vegan brownies. I was a pretty strict vegan for a little over 3 years but have recently relaxed on that front a bit, which seems to be working out okay, but now I have less of an excuse for my very picky eating habits - why else would a person not like cheesecake? I love driving too fast and yelling at other drivers from the safety of my car, rolling my eyes on a regular basis, staying up too late and falling asleep on my couch, cooking, reading, going to shows, hanging out with friends, I am currently in love with Polaroid cameras, Easy Street Records in QA, Portland, Lush, the Olympus Spa, New York City . . .

My Interests

Photography, art, music, reading, travel, bowling, Frisbee, I really want to learn how to rock climb, hiking, camping, riding the tandem (that sounds like that could be slang for something dirty, but it's not), etc

I'd like to meet:

Cool people to hang out with, I suppose. I'm a pretty independant person with a lot of awesome friends, but it never hurts to meet new people.

Bad Education, The Chorus, The Virgin Suicides, Fifth Element, Mermaids, any Miyazaki film, Batman Begins, Born into Brothels, Morvern Caller, Se7en, 12 Monkeys, Dear Frankie, Bon Voyage, Look At Me, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Brokeback Mountain, Good Night and Good Luck, Match Point, Une Femme et un Homme, Il Postino, Rosemary's Baby, Everyone Says I Love You, Melinda & Melinda, Friends With Money, Capote, TransAmerica, Syriana, Walk the Line, music documentaries, Bergman films, Woody Allen films . . .

Television:

The Simpsons, Sex & the City, The Sopranos, Lost, Monty Python, Six Feet Under, Gilmore Girls, Strangers with Candy - pretty much only stuff that I can get on DVD, considering I get no television reception and will never, EVER pay for cable - plus I hate commercials.

Books:

My favorite book is "Celeste Ascending" by Kaylie Jones. I also love pretty much any sort of travel literature/memoir, since I love to travel but really can't afford to right now, at least I can get ideas of where I want to go when I can. Any Laurie Notaro books, Bridget Jones, Harry Potter, Noam Chomsky, earlier Michael Moore, art books, "The Red Tent", Toni Morrison, Barbara Kingsolver, Gore Vidal, Terry McMillan, Pearl S. Buck, Amy Tan, Anchee Min, Anne Tyler, JRR Tolkien, Orson Scott Card, Ray Bradbury (especially "Dandelion Wine"), "The Handmaid's Tale", "1984", "The Alchemist", basically books about anything I'm interested in at the time - for some reason I've recently been reading some unusual (for me) books, like Helter Skelter, which was facinating and not as creepy as I thought it would be. I am a reading junkie and I can't imagine what it's like to not be into reading, it's an amazing window into someone's life and/or imagination.

Heroes:

Ghandi, Ralph Nader, people who are happy with their lives regardless of whether or not they comform to the ideal of what should make someone happy
