About Me

Dirrty Hairy - Every Rose Has It's Thorn
..
Add to My Profile | More VideosMy whole life has been about entertaining. I tapped my feet to the beat of my fathers music while still in the womb. He played Bass in a surf/rock band called "The Trashmen" in the early sixties. They had a big hit with the song "Surfin' Bird". I started spinning records, 45's & LP's (remember those?) as a young chap at 3 years old. After tearing the arm off the turntable and wearing out the stylus on my parents stereo, mom and dad thought it would be wise to get me a record player of my own. They did, and a DJ was born!. By the age of 10 I picked up the Drums in school band as a way of getting a drum set. My first drumming influence was the late great Steve Warher (drummer/lead singer of the Trashmen). Other drumming influences at the time were Peter Criss, Buddy Rich, Neil Peart and John Bohnam. I joined my first band in 7th grade, and found out that chicks REALLY DIG guys in bands. We would jam in front of 20-30 kids in a garage playing Kiss, Ted Nugent, Louie Louie and it felt like a concert. I was a "band dork" with a somewhat cool side.My first job was at the local roller skating rink as a disc jockey. I was fifteen, and I remember thinking that I was the luckiest dude ever. Skating around, flirting with girls and GETTING PAID??? Awesome!!! I also started drumming in a variety band and playing nite clubs, Weddings and even a state prison. YIKES. Here I was at 15-16 years old, having a blast DJing and Drumming, making a few dollars and too young to Realize that I was already a professional entertainer. I never thought that I'd still be doing that over 25 years later..............

My Interests

Music:

In my 20's I toured all over the Midwest and western states playing classic rock and what we now know as "Hair Metal". We would play 5-6 nites a week in any given town or state then move on to the next one. my first touring band was "Touched". We were one of the biggest draws in the midwest and were doing the hairspray/makeup thing in 86' before Poison was big. (Even in Minneapolis we had our L.A vibe going) "Secret Admirer"(87-88) and later "Alley Cat Salley" (88-93) T-Wire(88-93) In 1993 I took a hiatus from the band scene as grunge took over. I was booking bands for my agent Pat Muret from XFR Management. He had taken a job managing pachaderhm studios an hour south of Minneapolis and needed help on the band booking end. Ironic enough Nirvana was recording InUtero there and were staying at the band house. If Pat didn't answer the phone when I called, one of the Nirvana guys or Courtney Love did as they were the only ones there. I never took the opportunity to go hang there with them as I was too busy to do so. I'll always regret that, as Kurt was gone only a year later. In 1992 I started Robin DJ & Karaoke Entertainment"I have been doing that ever since and moved to Florida in 1996. I came out of a 10 year band retirement in 2003 to play drums with DIRRTY HAIRY, We play my favorite of all music, "80's metal". A great excuse for a midlife crisis.
