Following the success of Charleston Boogey (over 600 copies sold through out the Mid-Atlantic Region) Knifework’s Steve Astra took four months off to write and record Three x Five x Six. The latest EP is a collection of new songs and reworked older ones. Recorded in Baltimore at Hadley Studios (the Baptism), the cd features full band tracks as well as solo, singer-songwriter tracks, and ranges from moody indie rock to almost folk punk. The Cd shows evolution in song writing, while staying true to the ideals under which Knifework was founded. Astra plans to market this cd just as heavily as he did Charleston Boogey, and hopes for similar, if not better, success with it. To date, Knifework has preformed from Bethlehame, PA, to Welmington, NC and bumped shoulders (and equipment) with Thin Dark Line (111 records), Rookie of the Year (111 records), the Panic Division (Militia Group Records), Hundred year Storm (Warner Records), House of Fools (Drive-Thru Records), My American heart (Warcon Ent.), Paulson (One Day Savior Rec.), Between Home and Serinity (Rust Rec.), These United States, Screw Tape, and a host of local bands from up an down the East Coast.
The Commonwealth Times
With great stage presence, Steve Astra performs like a gifted professional. There is no hint of shyness here, just a strong performance and a tight command of his audience. (Read It Here )
