There are a lot of things I enjoy and life. Most things that I enjoy in life revolve around music and the people I love. I play music (piano, synths, guitars, bass, drums, whatever I still feel creative playing) and I love to listen to music. I'm not too picky about music generally, but I do have distaste for a lot of the music out there in the world. My main interests in broad, genre-sweeping labels are probably Rock (of the indie sort for the most part, if we are calling it that, and a collage of other forms of rock too, mind you) and Jazz (mostly modern contemporary jazz and piano driven or supported jazz, especially anything done by or with Brad Mehldau). I guess that's not too specific, but then, if you are confused, I guess you don't know me or pay much attention because most of my musical obsessions and interests tend to dominate my life, making themselves fairly obvious.

Yes. I have been listening to a lot of newer music in the folk idiom that has really enchanted me. Some artists in particular are M. Ward, Andrew Bird, Rachel Williams, Bright Eyes, and others like Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, and Rufus Wainwrigth. Some of these artists have come to my awareness quite recently, others a long time ago. New or old, i have found a real sense of comfort and serenity in the songs of these artists in the past few weeks. I have been feeling a strange sense of insecurity, vulnerability, and confusion lately that has put me in a very distanced place but when i put on one of my latest mixes i am able to just give up all these odd emotional cages and let these songs cover my eyes and let me breathe with comfort and innocence. One of the mixes i have been listening to is this:1. One Life Away - M. Ward 2. Somebody That I Used to Know - Elliott Smith 3. Measuring Cups - Andrew Bird 4. The Art Teacher - Rufus Wainwright 5. Waltz #2 (Xo) - Elliott Smith 6. The Restricted - Rachel Williams 7. No Surprises - Radiohead 8. Land Locked Blues - Bright Eyes 9. This Is the Way - Devendra Banhart 10. Masterfade - Andrew Bird 11. Staring at the Sea - Rachel Williams 12. Sovay - Andrew Bird 13. Paul's Song - M. Ward 14. You May Know Him - Cat Power 15. Memphis Skyline - Rufus Wainwright 16. Color of Water - M.Ward 17.
