Welcome to MessyWorks, "Where The Pies Are Always Thrown, Never Eaten". We're a female slapstick/sketch comedy group based in Chicago (but we recruit ladies from across the U.S. and in Canada!). Our goal is to put on entertaining, live shows in front of an audience that are taped for release on video and DVD. An example of our shows would be like a cross of Nickelodeon's Double Dare & You Can't Do That On Television; Women Behaving Badly; I Love Lucy; a lot of Carol Burnett; SNL; MadTV; a pinch of MTV's Jackass; some Mel Brooks & Benny Hill and the Scary Movie series all rolled into one. If it sounds like a lot of fun, that's the idea!
Why women? Because women are not typically thought of in this kind of a role. It's our goal to have a lot of fun while at the same time showing a different side of women--the silly, sexy, playful, funny side. That doesn't mean we're looking for beauty queens, though! We're open to all women of all shapes, sizes and colors. We want to have a very non-traditional kind of a show that displays the idea that a woman's beauty isn't just in her looks. Actresses, models, even those without any sort of entertainment experience are welcome! A great chance to come out of your shell and have a lot of fun! It's also a chance to meet new people and make new friends. Consider us a messy sorority, because it is our hope that all of the girls involved can bond together and be a family.
We're also looking for female photographers who don't mind getting splattered to be part of our family and take pictures, both staged glamour and action pictures at our shows. Check out our page exclusively for photographers at http://www.sfpincchicago.com/messyworks/photos.html
Are you a woman who would like to take a behind the scenes role in MessyWorks? Join our production company, Pie In The Face Productions. Not comfy getting messy, and don't think you have the skills or experience to fill any of the roles in Pie In The Face Productions? No problem! We're always in need of women to help recruit, promote, and you can always lend a helping hand in setup and cleanup!
Speaking of setup and cleanup, as alot of our girls are married or in relationships, we invite your significant others to help out as needed. They are also welcome to assist as security, as well.
Check out our website at http://www.sfpincchicago.com/messyworks and make sure you sign our guestbook! If you think that MessyWorks might be of interest to you, then make sure you check out our website, and then either drop us a line through here or (preferably) e-mail us at [email protected] with your name, age, address and phone number, and we'll have a recruiter in your local area get back with you. If you want, you can phone us at 847-774-8257 and speak to me (Amanda), or reach my partner and head of Shadow Fire Promotions (our parent company), Greg Dennis, at 847-489-2087. Don't be shy! Serious inquiries only, please. We don't mind you asking questions and wanting to meet with someone, but if you want to join, be advised, it's a lot of fun, but it does require some effort on your part, too.
We have a group right here in MySpace called MessyWorks (check it out in our groups!), and it is a chance to meet and talk to both members and prospective members and also some of our female supporters. You can also post suggestions for skits, fund raisers, or anything pertaining to women and womens causes. Sorry, guys, it's women only for now. However, we hope to have some events in the near future where guys can come and meet and talk to our girls. It will also be a chance for interested women to come and meet some of our women and just talk, and your significant others will be welcome to attend, as well. We'll have information on hand for you to take home and look through at your leisure without having to set up an appointment.
When we finish the planning for the events, we'll have the dates in the calendar section here, and in the calendars of our website and Yahoo groups, too.
Men and women are all encouraged to join our "Fans of MessyWorks" Yahoo groups. You can join by heading over to http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/fansofmessyworks. It's a great way to keep up on events, as we'll usually post there first.
