JP vs Deego are an original Hip Hop and RnB act hailing from Derby in the East Midlands. After a chance meeting in 2004, they realised that they shared a love for hip hop beats, and started what was to become a long-standing musical partnership. JPs musical influence started at a young age, orignally from Rugeley in Staffordshire, fed on a solid diet of local heroes UB40, this evolved to a love of hip hop culture being influenced by 2Pac, Dr Dre and The Roots. Deego came from a more soulful background, getting into the sounds of Michael Jackson, Phil Collins and Lionel Ritchie when finding his musical feet, and more recently becoming a big fan of the beats of Timbaland.
The combination of these influences produces soulful music with a gritty edge, with lyrics covering love, loss and the dark reality of growing up in a town forgotten by industry and the government. JP vs Deego produce all the beats and music thereselves. Coming from a classical background, JP brings a fresh edge to the arrangments, you can often find orchestral string sections perfectly complimenting piledriver beats. On top of this JP adds his rhythmical rhymes and raps, he has often to compared to Mike Skinner from the Streets. Deego adds the final layer to the tracks with his soulful vocals, juxtaposing the ferocious lyrical assault from JP with sweet melodies and catchy choruses.
This powerful musical statement has seen the duo work audiences to fever pitch in their home town of Derby, but the boys are now ready to take their message the world....
