Tony Shumate was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He began playing the drums at the tender age of eight at St. John C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of the late Dr. Noah Shumate Sr. This was the beginning of Tony's musical career. From the drums, Tony moved on to play the bass guitar for a while. Finally at the age of fourteen, he started to play the piano. Tony never imagined that his talent of playing the piano would take him this far, being that he has never taken any lessons. Tony has been blessed to travel all over the country and has won serveral trophies and awards in music. He has also been favored to play for numerous churches and events. Through out his time as a musician, he has had the opportunity to play for several artists such as The Clark Sisters, Rev. Timothy Wright, Andre' Crouch, Rev. Douglas Miller, Howard McCrary, Darius McCrary, Erica Campbell, Miki Howard, Jesse Campbell, Two-time Grammy award winning Legendary Etta James, The Delfonics and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, just to name a few. In addition to his achievements, Tony had the opportunity to reproduce and direct the music for the stage play "The Inquest Of Sam Cooke". He is also the Music Director for the Grammy Award Winner "Eartha". Tony has blessed many with his unique angelical sound. He is currently the musician at Vision International Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop Peter and Rev. Sarah Morgan. Tony has recorded his first instrumental Cd entitled "In His Presence". It has blessed people all over the country. It is an atmosphere setter for the churches, your car, your office and your homes. Although music has become a passion for Tony, the most important thing in his life is serving God, loving his family and believing that through God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. To God Be The Glory!
