In 1993 after a performance at The Festival of New Orleans, Curtis was approached by Buckwheat Zydeco (founder of "the world's greatest party band" Buckwheat Zydeco) to tour with him. Buckwheat was drawn to Curtis' display of leadership and electrifying sound. By joining Buckwheat Zydeco, Curtis became the third trumpet player to ever play zydeco music. True to form, Curtis stamped his signature style of high powered solos and impromptu improvisations onto zydeco music, earning the title of "Zydeco Trumpeter Extraordinaire." Thirteen years later, Curtis Watson continues to tour with Buckwheat Zydeco as an accomplished and well-traveled musician armed with a wide repertoire of soulful music. Sought after for his innovative trumpet playing, Curtis has collaborated and recorded with The Neville Brothers, Counting Crows, Cee-Lo Green,LIVE and Frank Macomb.Curtis currently makes his home in Atlanta, GA, where he has recorded a personal project entitled "Dance and Be Quiet" (a soulful melodic house music CD) and he has plans for an upcoming blues production.
