Gov.( [email protected] )3477396462The Music industry’s traditionally ‘safe approach’ to making and
marketing music, has currently caused the rap game-as we know it-to
become for the most part, stagnant creatively. With the
over-saturation of cookie-cutter rappers engulfing the air waves, the
timing could not be better for the coming of Queens-born, Bronx-bred
artist, CMR the Great. With unique lyrical style and versatility, CMR
is poised to make his mark as an emcee, while bringing back an element
of realism to HipHop, that made it such a respected genre of music at
its early stages. Keeping lyrical content true to self, this young
rapper taps into his inner most emotions to paint pictures of life,
love, struggle and survival on the streets. While discovering his love for rap early on, a twelve-year-old CMR
decided to follow in the foot steps of his then idol and fellow
‘Microphone Fiend’, Rakim. He honed his skills at a feverish pace
and perfected his craft til he felt confident enough to showcase his
talent among his peers. As his reputation as an rapper on the come-up
grew, so did his love for the street life.“There’s a certain
duality to the industry of rap and runnin’ the streets,†states CMR.
“Both require a hustler’s mentality, and with that said. . .only the
strong survive.â€
In an attempt to make music his main focus, CMR went down south. It
was in Durham, North Carolina that this aspiring artist would exploit
his skills and undeniable star-quality he possessed. He hustled his
way in and signed to an independent label, where his single“Monetâ€
reached the Billboard Top 20 list. While enjoying a certain level of
success, CMR went through his share of ups and downs while signed.
Unfazed by the adversity faced, he continued his hard work, making the
studio his second home. Adding to his collection of bangersr are
tracks such as “Cassiusâ€, where the confident emcee gives you a
realistic perspective of life through the eyes of his alter-ego Cocaine
Cassius. He steps up the pace on “Ride for the Setâ€, where he
states that, “_________â€. On the track, “You and Ya Peoplesâ€,
CMR uses his gift of gab to smooth talk the ladies.“I ain’t
tryin’ to reroute you, I’m just tryin’ to see what this can amount
to,†he explains. With a brand new team behind him, known as Slow Budget Records,
production from the Hot Block camp(Naughty By Nature, G-Dep and D-Dot),
and management from the Nickel and Dime Music Group, CMR the Great a.k.a
Cocaine Cassius is ready to make his presence felt whether you like it
or not. With his overall musical message that, life is short, so handle
your business before its too late, the time is now for the coming of
greatness in one emcee. This force to be reckoned with is sure to become
a permanent fixture in Rap. The game needs to get ready and brace itself
for a new leader. . .CMR the Great. A permanent problem. For booking, contact Gov of Nickel and Dime Music Group @ 347.739.6462
