About Me

The Voice: The Golden Age Redux
Soulful. Classic. Refreshing. These are three adjectives seldom seen together when describing anything, much less hip hop. In an age where artists strive to sell more ringtones than create timeless works, there is strong demand for good, quality music; one that Darrious “The Voice” Lee is ready to supply. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, The Voice epitomizes the continued legacy of Motown with a sound you’ve never heard before but known all your life. R & B artist George Tisdale may have summed it up best: “The Voice, folks let me tell you…wow, wow, WOW! That’s all I can say is wow...”
The Suspended Animation Mixtape is set to showcase the newly christened “Motown 2.0” sound that is poised to bring about a musical renaissance circa the 1970’s. True to life lyrics coupled with true to art instrumentation is what differentiates him from other rapper/producers, along with an undeniable swagger and playful charm that envelopes the listener and takes them back to a time when the rhythm moved more than your body; it stirred your soul.
Versatility is another trait that The Voice has that many producers don’t. Having worked with numerous artists from every region has given him an honest appreciation of the underlying want of every artist to create the best possible sound, and as such, has garnered love across the United States from camps like The Diplomats and Organized Noise. Wow indeed. How do you simplify such complex, multi-layered music reminiscent of everything the golden age of music was now? Three words, but you already know that.
