UGENE

Ugene is the side project of Beauty School Dropouts guitarist, Josh Baker. Josh got his start in the music industry when He joined LA band The Prom Kings in 2003. They went on to sign a record contract with Three Kings/Geffen Records and eventually released a self-titled album in 2005. That album contained two singles that reached in the top 15 on the R&R charts and songs that appeared in feature films such as The Island and Ghost Rider. Josh eventually left The Prom Kings and moved back to Nashville to rejoin old friends and create the band The Beauty School Dropouts. BSD had overwhelming success from the beginning, with their first show being at BuzzFest 2005, performing with bands Paramore, Flyleaf, Velvet Revolver, etc. They later opened up for Avril Lavigne as well as other well known acts. Shortly after Beauty School signed what was considered one of the largest publishing deals in the past decade with Windswept Pacific. In 2008, BSD decided to take a break, which led to a project Josh had always wanted to pursue, UGENE.
