You are the difference between bad and evil.

About Me

I'm currently working off debt and pursuing a Fulbright grant to study the relationship between technology and the arts at the STEIM foundation in the Netherlands (www.steim.org). My research will involve working with musicians and computer scientists to make computers more usable for right-brained individuals. The idea is that if someone can pick up computer music in the same intuitive way they pick up a guitar, computer music will become more natural to play, perform, and compose.. and be a lot more enjoyable to watch live.
If you're a collaboration-minded fella/fellette near Amsterdam, or even here in our very rustic Florida lowlands and would like to experiment with sound give me a hollar.
Ah, also.. I've been known to run a little recording studio out of my apartment and to record local musicians practically for free. Apply within. I particularly love folk ian music from America and around the world.

Some people I agree with had this to say::

"If you wish to go quickly, go alone. If you wish to go far, go together." - Al Gore
"If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise don't even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, jobs. And maybe your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery, isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance. Of how much you really want to do it. And you'll do it, despite rejection in the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine." -Charles Bukowski
"What is the internally free man free from? First of all - he or she is free from fear of people and life. He or she is able to have their own personal point of view; free from prejudices. He or she is free from envy, selfishness and from aggressive personal drives"
~Simon Soloveychik
No sadder proof can be given by a man of his own littleness than disbelief in great men.
~ Thomas Carlyle
"Ira Chernus, a professor at the University of Colorado, argues that the deepest root of the neoconservative movement is its fear that the counterculture would undermine the authority of traditional values and moral norms. Because neoconservatives believe that human nature is innately selfish, they believe that a society with no commonly accepted values based on religion or ancient tradition will end up in a war of all against all. They also believe that the most important social value is strength, especially the strength to control natural impulses. The only alternative, they assume, is weakness that will let impulses run riot and lead to social chaos.
According to Peter Steinfels, a historian of the movement, the neocons' "emphasis on foreign affairs emerged after the New Left and the counterculture had dissolved as convincing foils for neoconservatism . . . The essential source of their anxiety is not military or geopolitical or to be found overseas at all; it is domestic and cultural and ideological." Neoconservative foreign policy parallels their domestic policy. They insist that the U.S. military must be strong enough to control the world, or else the world will descend into chaos.
It's convenient to turn the contrast knob all the way up until the world consists of only two colors. I hope to be able to return to Oz when I'm done.
