About Me

On the tenth hour of the eighth day of the eleventh month in the one thousand nine hundred and eighty second year of the Lord, Benjamin James, son of the revered and honorable Barry Sr. and fair mother Marilyn, was brought forth. His early years, spent mostly in the north eastern state of New Hampshire, as the oldest sibling among all boys, were considered a delightful time of playing with GI Joes, and attending football practice. As he grew into his early teens he participated in scholarly and athletic activities alike, being torn between the desire to play sports and the constant scrutiny of those who supported the academic path. Ben attended college at the University of New Hampshire where he received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, impressing those supporting the scholarly path none the less. These years, although filled with glorious parties and lots of beer consumption, were pestered by the coming and going of female companions, which sparked a change in the now young man. Instead of investing emotions and time in a heartbeat, he became prudent, and wiser in his dedication. Recently after graduating from the university he became unhappy with the north east way of life with its long cold winters and rather malcontent population. Dislike for this lifestyle lead to a major change in location. With two friends from his early years, Ben decided to pack up his possessions and relocate to Gainesville, Florida with the intention of finding a job, enjoying the weather and having some fun. Why Gainesville? Because it is warm, not NH, and he knew a few people there…. That’s about it. So here we are at the current day and Ben has found work as a chemist, living with two friends, surviving quite happily in the southern comfort of Florida.

My Interests

I like new things...but usually end up fixing broken things...its relaxing, just like cooking can be. So yeah, I like to cook...has a rewarding end product....most of the time. Im interested in science. Mostly genetics and biochemistry... I currently make my living in microbiology. I enjoy the outdoors, exploring things in the woods, working on my car... I can do mechanic work for the price of parts...and maybe a good meal. The summer is my favorite season, especially for the beach/ warmth aspect. I enjoy playing video games from time to time. I wish I knew of some good comedy clubs to go to in the area...if anyone knows, please tell me.

I'd like to meet:

At this time in my life I'd like to meet people who have the same interests as I do. Down to earth, relaxed people who have a desire to go crazy from time to time. People who can take a really dumb joke and laugh at it while saying how bad it was.

Music:

This is easy: I like rock, metal, 80s, alternative, classic rock, oldies, dance, and classical .... in that order. As far as favorite muscians go: my dad! Breaking Benjamin, Element 80, Atomship, Chili Peppers, Tool, Michael Jackson, The Killers, Neil Young, Incubus... just to name some.

Movies:

Any action movie and comedies. Falling Down with Michael Douglas is probably my favorite movie, up there with the newer scarface. Both depressing movies, but they don't bullshit around. Boondock Saints is great - my cousin was high school friends with the director. Also many animated movies like Shrek, Ice Age, Bugs Life - Just watched Cinderella Man - solid movie.

Television:

24, any football, evening news, saturday morning cartoons, friday night stand up, and ehhh...star trek when its on during lunch break haha.

Books:

My over priced lab equipment service manuals because I'm kinda a big deal at UF haha.

Heroes:

Respect your elders.

My Blog

1/2 horsepower

Pulled up to work in STYLE today on Adrienne's 15 speed mountain bike.  Took me about...15 minutes to get to work, 10 minutes longer than usual.  The Tiburon is parked for an unknown period ...
