S.I.M.O (Superior, Integrated, Music Operations) was born in Wiltshire UK and raised in Devon ,Simo is a true Westcountry lad through and through.
He developed an interest in electronic music in 1994 mainly listening to funky acid house and later acid techno and drum n bass, he soon developed a liking for all things bangin.
In 1997 Simo struck up a relationship with Devons B.L.I.M posse and, playing alongside some of acid technos most highly acclaimed DJs and producers such as Rowland the Bastard, Chris Liberator, and D.A.V.E the Drummer at various outdoor parties and festivals across the Westcountry, he soon made a name for himself with his take-no-prisoners approach to turntablism.
1999 saw Simo relocate to San Francisco where he has been working on various projects with the locals ever since. These days Simo plays what can only be described as funky breaks with a little acid and a lot of bass! He has found himself playing alongside some of Breakbeats biggest names, including; Lee Coombs, Adam Freeland, Bassbin Twins, Lee Burridge, DJ Icey and The Mutaytor . He has also been throwing down vinyl in San Franciscos largest clubs and underground warehouses, including the legendary Fillmore.
In 2004 he teamed up with local funkster DJ Motion Potion to form the Scratch n Sniff project where Simos bass-heavy beats are complimented by MoPos eclectic mix of old and new skool acappellas, samples and scratching. This project has seen the boys head to Cornell University in New York to perform at an electronic music seminar, and as far afield as the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, to perform alongside the likes of
Jurrassic 5, STS9 and RJD2
Simo also works with legendary San Francisco producer B. Smiley bringing a bigger, funkier sound to the underground with tracks like Who Stole the Soul?,Its a nice and Dirty Bizness.
Simo has 2 forthcoming releases on his Sleevin imprint scheduled for early june and mid july . Watch out for local San Francisco talent on this label including Goldilox, Mancub, B.Smiley and Techture.
