Main Interests: Playing instruments. I have played the guitar since before you were born. I have dabbled with the harmonica. Currently I concentrate on increasing my skills with the guitar, but also experiment with a banjo and mandolin that were brought into my life Winter '06. But if I'm not playing music, I probably am listenting to it.Of course this is all when I'm not at work. You know, that small slice of the day where there are a thousand things you should do, but you cant seem to get over the fact that tomorrow is a great day for doing those things.I try to go to as many concerts as possible. Recently saw Old Crow Medicine Show and they were bad ass.
Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Ralph Stanley, Derek Trucks, Jesus Christ
If everything was banished from our Earth it would be almost tolerable if music still filled my mind. The history of my hobby starts as a young boy. I believe I was six years old when i got the red double deck cassette stereo. Two cassettes as well- Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet- and-Hank Williams Jr.-Greatest Hits-. I started a little rocky you might say. As the years went on the next big thing for me was Guns N Roses. This was my favorite band until the grundge movement and W. Axl Rose turned it to crap. But, The Beatles were there to take their place. Obsession would be a good descriptor. I had to have everything the beatles ever did and I had to read the liner notes, and the biographies, and the anthologies, and the crap bootlegs of the Shea Stadium Show. The beatles will never be lost to me as a favorite band, but then I discovered a little thing called acid rock. I don't particularly like the name, but the music is fantastic. The grateful dead of course were a big part of my teen years and still are today. The allman bros band is fantastic. Phish is phenomenal. Traffic, Yes, FBB, EH, DMB, Boston, WSP, OAR, Pink Floyd, Zappa, and then it exploded. Each one of these interests led to interests among similar bands, then the styles became big for me, country/western (Cornball Country), Motown, Sun Records. Today Steve Miller is in the cd player. Tomorrow it may be Glen Miller. The Band is my favorite band of all time.
What can I say: I'm a sucker for movies. All genres, all actors, all studios, heck I even like theatrical productions. A few favorites: True Grit, Day of the Dead, and Caveman. And now I'll tell you another one. Actually, anything that has the power to suspend my disbelief and is fast paced, involving, and clever will get my thumbs up.
Deadwood, Lost, and the History and Science channels.
Reading is for dweebs.
