Immaculata

About Me

Immaculata have written, produced, recorded and mastered their own material, and have created their own artwork. The members have extensive musical and artistic backgrounds; clothing design, fine art and theatre are among their collective interests and experience...Musically, they exist presently as a Trio; previous members included fire-technicians, dancers, backing vocalists and circus performers. Immaculata will always be treading the fine line between pop and theatre, and plan to devise a show suited to theatre-type venues in the future, perhaps utilising more elements of the above. The actual sound has been described as a combination of many elements, including dance, celtic, world folk, industrial, goth and electronic pop, to name a few. Unlike many electronic/dance acts these days, Immaculata regard vocal content as a high priority, and the blend of modern and traditional approaches has resulted in a fascinating style of music. While some of the songs have twofold meanings, that doesn't exclude a surprising sense of fun that shines through. Mixed generations of punters all gain something from listening, and support for Immaculata's independant releases have been very enthusiastically received.

Influences: I'll try to list a few: Pretty much the entire 80's... also Dead Can Dance, Kate Bush, Dead or Alive, Pet Shop Boys, The B-52's, Monsoon, Rammstein, VNV Nation, APB, Einsturzende Neubaten (probably spelled it wrongly), The Eurythmics, Metallica, Enya, Laurie Anderson, Phillip Glass, The Pogues, The Other Ones, Nina Hagen, Nick Cave, The New Age Steppers, Matt Thomas, Morrissey, Mike Oldfield, Massive Attack, Madonna, Leonard Cohen, Kiss, Kim Wilde, Jimmy Somerville, Jean Michel Jarre, Human League, Faithless, Enigma, E Nomine, Divine, Depeche Mode, Delirium, Deep Forest, David Bowie, The Carpenters, The Bushwackers, Boney M, Bread, Blondie, Bjork, Army of Lovers and Alphaville. In other words a hodgepodge of everything I've ever listened to...
Sounds Like: Some might say sounds like Pet Shop Boys mixed with Human League or Depeche Mode, with a bit of Dead or Alive thrown in. Or maybe a folk band that got assimilated by the Borg... or a Renaissance quartet who stumbled upon some synthesizers in a time capsule from the future and freaked out.
