The band was founded in early 1986 by brothers Thorsten (guitars/vox) and Dietrich Hecke (vox/uprigt bass) in a north german town called Gifhorn.Die Chinesischen Glueckskekse play a mixture between Rockabilly, Punkrock and RocknRoll with german lyrics. It was already clear in the beginning that they wont fit in the typically 80s draws known as Psychobilly or Rockabilly! The Kekse how they got called by their fans, played lots of shows with bands like Restless, Mr. Review, Emils, Skaos, Shifty Sherriffs before they released their first Mini LP Bad Guys in 1990.More shows and tours followed after the 7" release Ich bin ein Mann (Ted *the german Elvis* Herolds famous number from 1958) and a full length album Greatest hits as well as the Maxi Der Junge mit der Gitarre. Also several appearences on compilations all over europe, with the likes of Rumble on the Beach (1990 Germany Tour) The Guanabatz (1991 Germany Tour). Lots of shows followed with The Meteors, Frantic Flintstones, Restless, Mad Sin, Polecats, Deltas, POX, Blue Cats, The Monsters and of cause headlining shows which brought the band all over Germany and to Austria and Finland. After 1995 it got a bit quiet with the Kekse until they returned in 2000 with their new drummer Oliver Hartmann (ex The Javes, Die Bloedmannen). After three month returning on the scene, the first tour with the new line up, supporting Germanys leading Crossover act Such A Surge on a big german Club tour, the band showed their unique skills in Punk-Rockabilly, still mixed with their special brand of german lyrics.Since then DIE CHINESISCHEN GLUECKSKEKSE played tons of shows with bands like The Busters (Germanys leading Skaband), Rocket From The Crypt, Demented Are Go, Caravans, Frantic Flintstones, Mad Sin, Meteors, Terrorgruppe, Wohlstandskinder, Big John Bates and again their own headlining shows.
