The Latino Business Student Association is a non-profit student-run organization established at the University of California , Irvine in 2003. It is a multi-cultural organization composed of students from different ethnic backgrounds and different majors. However, a vast majority of the members hold Social Science Majors. Majors include Economics, Political Science, International Studies, Psychology, Chicano Latino Studies, and Sociology. The Latino Business Student Association strives to provide its members with resources that will facilitate and develop their professional skills, business knowledge, current and future educational goals.The organization serves as a bridge into the professional world by allowing members to experience hands-on workshops, guest speaker presentations, and networking functions. In addition, the Latino Business Student Association is committed to provide its members with several different academic resources. Academic resources include the Under Graduate Research Opportunities Programs, the Summer Undergraduate Research Program, the Summer Academic Research Program, Social Sciences Academic Resource Center, the Career Center, Student Services II, Education Abroad Program, UC/DC Internship program, and many more. In addition, the organization strongly values community service. Functions such as blanket drives, beach clean-ups, A.I.D.S. walk, assisting elementary students write letters to the President of the United States , Youth and Parent Conference, Hispanic Education Endowment Fund, Orange County Voter Registration, and collaborations with the School of Social Science .
