Kit Holliday

About Me

Kit loves to sing-a, about the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a.She was voted Outstanding Female Vocalist in the 2005 Blues Audience Readers Poll, and also won the 2003 Boston Blues Challenge while singing with The Matthew Stubbs Band, a blues/swing group local to Boston. In 2004, Kit and the MSB travelled to Memphis to bring home third place in the International Blues Challenge.
For the past year, Kit has sung and travelled with Ricky "King" Russell, and these days pretty much sings with anybody who asks her.
Although much of this page is devoted to the blues, Kit has recently been seen lending her butt-shaking skills to the disco funk outfit Booty Vortex, operating under the alias Ginger Snap. If you see her in shiny spandex or (*shudder*) wearing colors, please pretend not to notice.
Warning: Kit Holliday has recently been diagnosed with a rare medical condition, the primary symptom of which is unhealthy interest in trombone music. No known cure exists at this time, but scientists believe that the condition is not contagious, and masks or HEPA filters are not required.
Note: If you would like to contact someone to book Kit Holliday appearances, please do so via direct email, available at http://www.chicksinga.com. MySpace message delivery is not reliable enough to be a professional contact method.
Additional Note: Sites about only one thing are tedious, so here's some other trivia: Kit likes motorbikes and racing just as much as she likes trombones. We'll keep you up to date on the budding whitewater fascination.

Sounds Like: According to many inebriated people in the clubs, Janis Joplin, Susan Tedeschi, and Bonnie Raitt. However, none of that is actually true, it's just the booze filter (beer muffs?). I've had one reference each to Mahalia Jackson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thornton, and (!!!!!) Gladys Knight. More likely than any of the first three, but I'm still not entirely buying it.
Record Label: Hahahahahahahaha! Oh, that's rich. Really, it is.
