Hacia el 2005 nace el grupo Victrola Tinnitus. Es este momento, el grupo estaba formado por: Jorge Camacho , guitarra y voz; Arturo Carrion , guitarra; Elias MartÃnez , bajo; y Ariel Roman, baterÃa. Victrola Tinnitus era una banda de punk rock en su infancia.
Ya para el 2006 Victrola Tinnitus se habÃa unido al creciente movimiento Indie de Puerto Rico, el cual formaban parte otras bandas como Crónica AM , Los Pasillos , Somvazio , Radiola , Davila 666 , Molina los cuales ayudaron a dar color a una escena aburrida comunmente dominada por musica metal. Victrola Tinnitus comenzó a llamar la atención a mediados del 2007, tocando frecuentemente en locales underground como La Flaka Club , Nuyorican Café , Taller Ce , El Viddy, El Sitio y Baro's. Al mismo tiempo liberaron su debut album titulado FloraMecanica . El CD Release fue celebrado en Show Time donde FloraMecanica fue vendido. De este álbum, la canción Paradisus Surreal fue la mas exitosa y reconocido entre el publico, y comenzo una moda nueva de baile nunca vista en la escena local.
Despues del exito del CD Release, se tomaron tiempo libre para crear material nuevo y experimentar con diferentes ritmos. Fue en esa época que pasaron de tocar punk rock a dance rock, evolucionando a un ritmo mas bailable, ya que el fenomeno de Paradisus Surreal atrajo a personas que querian bailar, pues esto guio la evolucion de la musica que crearian en el futuro. La creciente popularidad de Victrola Tinnitus les llevo a tocar en el Moskito Rock Fest , en el Anfiteatro Tito Puente, con bandas como Jumbo , Cherry Clan y Circo .
Debido al cada vez peor estado de salud de Ariel Roman, el resto de los miembros del grupo decidieron crear música usando baterÃas digitales, asà nació el side project Victrola y la Maquina , el cual duro solo un corto tiempo. Bajo este nombre tocaron varios eventos del Indie Rock Tour. Al ver la salud de Ariel seguir empeorando, tuvieron que buscar otro baterista que llenara el espacio vacÃo que se habÃa dejado. Retomaron el nombre de Victrola Tinnitus y tocaron los últimos eventos del Indie Rock Tour con Robert Roman, baterista de Tempera. Al final del Indie Rock Tour, Ariel Roman murió de cáncer, Elias y Robert se fueron sus caminos separados, y Jorge y Arturo quedaron para continuar la legacia de Victrola Tinnitus.
A principios del 2008, Victrola Tinnitus decidió continuar como un trio electrónico. El grupo ahora esta formado por: Jorge Camacho, teclado y voz; Arturo Carrion, guitarra; y Servando Echandia , exguitarista de Molina, bajo y voz. Usando como influencia la música que habÃan conocido en el mundo underground dance del Viejo San Juan, esta vez se destacaron en crear temas mas cercanos al Dance y Disco. Actualmente acabaron de grabar su segundo álbum titulado Discosida, y están en proceso de masterisar y refinarlo para su liberacion.
Band Biography
By 2005 the band Victrola Tinnitus was born. It was founded by: Jorge Camacho, guitar and vocals; Arturo Carrion, guitar; Elias Martinez, bajo; and Ariel Roman, drums. Victrola Tinnitus was a punk rock band in its infancy.
By 2006 Victrola Tinnitus joined the ever increasing Indie movement of Puerto Rico, becoming part of a scene where bands like Cronica Am, Los Pasillos, Somvazio, Radiola, Davila 666 and Molina helped give color to the boring metal scene that had dominated Puerto Rico's music front in the past. Victrola Tinnitus began to atract attention around 2007, playing frequently in local underground pubs and cafes like La Flaka Club, Nuyorican Cafe, Taller Ce, El Viddy, El Sitio and Baro's Cafe. Around the same time they released there debut album called FloraMecanica. The CD Release took place in Show Time where copies where sold. From this album, Paradisus Surreal became a hit atracting a dance crowd never seen before in Puerto Rico's music scene.
After the sucess of the FloraMecanica CD Release, Victrola Tinnitus took some time off to create new material and experiment with different beats. It was around this time that the band started to concentrate more on dance rythms combined with rock, which was there founding sound. The Paradisus Surreal phenomenon atracted many people who just wanted to dance, the bands evolution was thus. The bands ever increasing popularity led them to play in the Tito Puente Anfitheatre with renowned international bands like Jumbo, Circo and Cherry Clan.
Because of Ariel Roman's quickly deteriorating health, the rest of the band decided to create music using drum machines, it was at this time that "Victrola y la Maquina" (Victrola and the Machine) was born, a kind of side project which not lasted very long. Under this name they played many of the first Indie Rock Tour shows in Puerto Rico. After Ariel's health became even more deteriorated, another drummer was called in to finish the tour with the rest of the band. He was called Robert Roman, originally Tempera's drummer. Under the name Victrola Tinnitus, they finished the Indie Rock Tour. After the tour, Ariel died of cancer, Elias and Robert went there own separate ways, and Jorge and Arturo where left to carry on Victrola's legacy.
Starting 2008, the band decides to continue making music, this time as an electronic trio. The band is now: Jorge Camacho, synths and piano; Arturo Carrion, guitars; and Servando Echandia, Molina's original guitarist, playing base. Influenced by the unknown underground dance movement in Old San Juan, they plunged into Dance and Disco music. The band recently finished recording there second album titled Discosida.
FloraMecanica (2007)
Debut Album with 9 songs that range from edgy and grungy, with an optimistic feel, to disco, gloomy, agresive punk rock. This album covers the founding sounds that came to be Victrola Tinnitus. Released by indie label ANV records and its CD Release celebrated at Show Time Febuary 3, 2007. Contains the underground indie scene favourite Paradisus Surreal.
Discosida (2008)
Victrola Tinnitus' soon to be released second album. Made up of house beats, disco guitar riffs, rock ballads, with a touch of funk, techno and synth. This record sets a before and after mark in electronic music in Puerto Rico. Contains 14 danceable tracks perfect for any night out at the clubs.
